    Roll Call 4th of July

This is our first cruise and I am excited, yet anxious.  I do tend to have problems with motion sickness.  Also I really think that Mexico will be the highlight for me (do not want to go to Key West), so hopefully this flu (whatever they are calling it now) will run its course.  We have an 18 and 20 year old daughter and son, so hopefully they will have fun and not be bored.

I would appreciate any advice from the wise and conversation with fellow cruisers!Confused

My wiffe and I will be cruising on the 4th on the Holiday as well.  We have only cruised one other time on the Glory out of Port Canaveral last August. We can't wait to get on the ship,  Mexico sounds like it will be a lot of fun.

I will be there too. I am a frequent floater and I show up in any carnival ship anywhere and without planning or notice.

Suku,  What keeps bringing you back for cruise after cruise?  Everyone I have talked to enjoys their cruise, but know I am wondering why I finally decided to take a cruise.  I am more of a lans explorer and don't even like to go out on our boat on the lake???  Doing something in Mexico really appeals to me but now I am realizing the down side of such a limited amount of time in port.....

Haydeneh, Let me answer your inquiry from two planes. First Metaphysical next Mundane. I am connected to the Oceans and the Ethereal sky. From the deep sea when you see the moon light reflect on the waves it becomes millions point of light. When the big dipper rotates around the North Star the vastness vanishes all small problems. In the Ocean rain come to dance, waves come to greet, winds come to whisper, lightning is lyrics and thunder is music. These draws me to the Ocean like a magnet. The other reason for crusing is very mundane, I love people, party, travel and entertainment. Don't wonder or worry so much, just come and enjoy responsibly. You will have a good time. Happy birthday America.

We'll be there for our third cruise. First was on the Jubilee. I'm curious to experience again the smaller ship. The reviews I hear lately are encouraging. I wonder if we'll be treated to fireworks the evening of the 4th? We're really looking forward to this. First time taking the kids. The 11 year old daughter is very excited. My son and his new bride were married in March and went on the Conquest for their honeymoon. They got bit by the cruise bug and are going with us too. Any cruise is what you make it, and we're looking forward to a great time. See 'ya there!

My husband and I will be cruising the Holiday on the 4th as well.  This is our first cruise and also our first family vacation without the kids....I guess not much a family vacation then Big Smile.  We are looking forward to the ship and Mexico...I've been reading the reviews about Holiday some good others not so good, for us it's about what you make of it.  So we're looking forward to it.  See you all soon!

Re: Roll Call 4th of July

I just returned on the 25th from a cruise on the holiday. I was very skeptical about going on this cruise due to all the negative reviews it got on these blogs. I had a WONDERFUL time! nothing that was said that was bad never happened. My family and I had a great time and the boat was great and the staff was wonderful. We were all treated like kings and queens. I cannot believe that anyone would give this boat a bad review. the Mexican ports were so much fun. We went to the Nach Cocom beach resort in Cozumel and had a blast! Please do not listen to any bad reviews and have a great time. Wish I could go again on this same ship.

Re: Roll Call 4th of July

My husband and I will be on the 4th cruise, also, along with a couple of friends (one is a cruise virgin).  I've been on the Holiday before, last year with 7 other teacher/friends for spring break.  We had the best service I've ever had on that cruise... food was wonderful, waiter and asst. waiter were the absolute best of the 7 cruises I've been on.  Can't wait for this one.

To whoever asked about fireworks:  No, I think Disney is the only cruise line that has permission to shoot fireworks.  We were on the Fantasy last 4th, not much different from any other cruise, except the trivia questions (pool games) were all US history questions.

Time to start doing laundry and pack!

6/93 Premier Oceanic (Big Red Boat) (with all 3 kids)
8/02 RCCL Sovereign of the Seas (just 1 kid this time!)
8/04 Carnival Inspiration (7 day turned into 9 day, thanks Hurricane Frances!)
8/07 Carnival Glory- the Empty Nest cruise! (Itinerary changed, thanks Hurricane Dean!)
3/08 Carnival Holiday - Teachers on Spring Break, (Watch out, keep the kids out of our way )
7/08 Carnival Fantasy (couldn't wait for August!)
8/08 RCCL Mariner of the Seas (enjoying this empty nest stuff!) (Western turned into Eastern, thanks Hurricane Gustav!)
7/09 Carnival Holiday - 4th of July cruise - one more time before she's gone
8/09 Carnival Legend - pre-knee replacement surgery relaxation trip
Next up: 8/10 Carnival Dream - Eastern
(hoping to talk dh into getting a mid-winter cruise
    for my birthday/anniversary!)
