    Port Lucaya beach to marketplace?

Does anyone know if it is walking distance from the beach to the marketplace? Are they close by each other? We want to do the beach and then possibly a little shopping. Does anyone know of a online map of the area?

    Thanks for the Help!

Yes, it is in walking distance. The marketplace is across the street from the casino and on the other side of the casino is a beach. You will need to get a taxi from ship port to the marketplace. Happy Sailing!

Yes, the beach is free. You can also get a day pass from the hotel and use the pool and showers .. maybe even lounge chairs. (?)

I did not get a day pass but was told the Westin had day passes. Also check the Sheraton.

I called the Sheraton today and they do sell day passes. They told me to wait until we arrive and then check at the pool area. He also said that if they are at a high capacity they will not sell the passes for that particular day.

How much does the taxi cost?  Is it "per person" or a set price for 4, how does it work?

They will wait to get 10 people to a taxi and it's $5 per person.  Don't worry about scheduling a return trip with the driver either- there will be cabs at the marketplace by the Domino's pizza (yes there's a domino's there) waiting to take cabs full of people back to the ships, which will be $5 per person back.

The day passes are $20 per person, they an be purchased at the towel area.  It gives you access to their bathrooms, pool and beach chairs.  I believe they also sell an all inclusive one that includes drinks and food but that one is close to $100.

Re: Port Lucaya beach to marketplace?

I just returned today from Carnival Pride. We had 7 AM - 2 PM stop at Freeport. We took pur time to finish our breakfast at the ship and then went out at around 8:30 - 8:45 AM. There was no time lost in getting out. The taxis are right there ($5 per person each way between port and Lucaya Marketplace),  and with a lot of your fellow shipmates trying to get to Lucaya beach, the taxis will fill up quickly (meaning you won't have to wait long before they leave and there are are peknty of taxis there). They are comfortable air conditioned taxi ride and drivers try to act a little bit like tourist guide. It is about 15-20 minute ride each way. The Market Place and Lucaya Beach are across from each other as previous poster has said. We went straight to the beach as it was still early in the morning (about 9:20 in the morning) for any shopping. The beach was clean and water very clean. As soon as I put my stuff on an empty beach chair, a gentleman came up to me and said that they are rented at $5 each per day. He just gave me a wrist band once I paid and that is all we had to pay to use the chair, showers, access to the beach etc. I decided to go for Jet Ski rental. There are people trying to sell it to you on the beach itself and all this is operated by Ocean Motion Water sports. I was offered a 30-minute rental for $60. Upon a little bargaining, they offered a "some extra time" for the same price. This Jet ski had 3 person space and was in great condition and was a good deal for me. They had two rescue boats operating in the area just in case anything happens. I and my two sons (5 and 10 year olds) had a great time (about 40 minutes). I returned after 40-minutes but they never asked me to stop it before then. We then went to the Marketplace across the street for some shopping (much better than crowded straw market in Nassau where you may come across some rude/pushy people).
