We are also sailing on 2 January 2010. Unlike many, it will take us a significant amount of time to get to the departure port. You see, we are flying in from Sydney, Australia. It is a 14 hour flight to Los Angeles and then we take a further flight to Orlando. I hope its worth it. By the way, are the crowds ever a problem on Carnival?

wow those flight defiantly do ***! but i'm sure it will be worth it. the only problems I've ever experienced with crowed on carnival is usually just at embarkation and debarkation. However I think that is to be expected on any cruise line.

Good Day mate, ( spoken in my best faux Aussie accent ) lol, glad to have you sailin with us, Aussies are even more fun than Canadians, less inhibited...and almost as crazy as we Americans...lol   As for crowd problems, just the usual lines at peak times, not bad if you have a little patience, best advice, if there is a show or other activity you really want to see or do, get there a little early, reserve shore excursions as soon as possible, book dinner club online or early in the cruise. If this is your first cruise, you should check out the shows in the main show lounge and the late night comedy shows are usually great. Ships this size handle the crowd pretty seemlessly. There might be a bit of a crowd at the lido deck pool bar if the crew from Canada upholds there end of the bargain. lol and if you like to lie in the sun on deck you need to get out there early as people do tend to reserve chairs by leaving a towel on them and then not use them. ( Carnival says they have a no reserving policy but I see this type of behavior on all of the cruises I've been on)

Almost forgot, how many in your group? ages? names?  what part of Australia your coming from? cabin deck/location? (room number not required, even if Cruise Princess tries to trick you into divulging it, lol ) Party animals or early retirees? we need to know these very important details...Cool

Welcome to the thread bob. Now I know these guys are all trying to give you advice and thats cool, most of them do a great job and have really good advice. There is only one guy you have to watch out for. He might fool you into thinking he is trying to help but let me tell you, he drinks a 40 of Canadian wiskey a day and according to him he is a masocist, so really how much can you trust a drunk Masocist help. If your not sure by now who I am talking about, it's the guy that thinks he's an Aussie but is really an american, DOC HOG would be his name. What ever you do don't give him your cabin number, he threaten me that he would have his wife climb over my balcony and now I have to buy him drinks for the whole cruise just to keep his wife out of my room. After reading his last post to you i am now thinking he is a member of CIA ,good god I think you should stay away from this guy. But if your really brave you can help me gang up on him. lol By the way you will know him when you see him on the ship because he will be carrying around a box of crackers and cheese spread.

    Re: ROLL CALL 1/02/10

Now hush hush the both of you. I love both Americans and Canadians. We are from Sydney. Has anyone been here? I am travelling with my wife and 2 kids aged 10 and 7. We love to party so long as they have baby sitting there. A friend of mine is also coming with his 11 y.o. daughter. Now my final decision as to whom I approve of more shall depend on the perks and gifts that each of you shall provide me. (i.e. I do accept non monetary bribes) :)))

Well puddles, it looks like you get the Aussies on your side. I have no money with which to bribe the buzzards with as I spent all of mine on the cheese and crackers. lol
