Has anyone done the Yellowbird party boat.  I'll be sailing on my first cruise on the Sensation June 21st and I have no clue what to do in Nassau.

Someone told me that the "free" beaches in Nassau were topless. Is this true? I just want to be prepared, since I have two little kids.

What parts of Atlantis are free?  We're too old to do any of the fun stuff anyway...like to sightsee and play at the casino...what sightseeing is there?  Any reasonable priced restaurants in the area?

     Yellowbird is fun....

Nudity is against the law in the Bahamas... Free beaches are not topless... just can be a little scary... would suggest British Colonial Hilton - you can see it from ship - just past Senor Frogs... around $20pp but safe/calm/within walkind distance.

The only parts of Atlantis that are free are the lobby, casino, and a small view of the entrance to the "digs"  All else require a pass.  No reasonable food in Atlantis... some food shops near port are reasonable.... NOT Senor Frogs...

Hey Kimberly,   we are going to Nassau on May 30 and I have a couple questions.  Isn't Senor Frogs on the beach?   If so, is it a nice beach, a place to just stay and spend the day?  We are looking for simple relaxation on a beautiful beach.  Thanks for your reply.

Senor Frogs is on the beach, but I don't think there is beach access from the resturant. It kind of sits up over the water. There is a beach behind it, but I don't think you can get to it from Senor Frogs.

Please correct me if I am wrong! We didn't actually visit Senor Frogs, but did walk passed it and saw no beach access.

Astrochick18 is correct. There is not beach access at Senor Frog's. The closest beach is for a hotel, the British Colonial Hilton that you can get day passes.

Thanks ladybug.  I think you may have told me this before.  I am just freaking out because our cruise was changed to the Bahamas.  I was ready for Mexico and felt like I knew all I needed to know but I have been trying really hard to get last minute info on Nassau and Freeport.  Any advice you have will be appreciated.  All my family wants to do is veg-out on the beach.  Preferrably a beautiful beach with clear blue water.  Oh yea, we also want chairs and umbrella's.

If you want a quick close beach with chairs and an umbrella you can walk to the British Colonial Hilton. It was very nice and the beach was very nice too. We did walk in to look but decided not to pay since $20 X 4 is a lot for a few hours on the beach. We walked one more block down to the free beach. Same water but no chairs and no security so just watch your stuff and you will be fine. You can easily walk back to the ship and I recommend a stop at Senor Frogs for a last minute party before you have to board the ship.

Has anyone taken public taxi to nearby zoo to see flamingo dance?

We will be on the Dream for the January 2nd, 2010 sailing and have never been to Bahamas.

    Thanks!

Yes, you can take a taxi to the Zoo.

We actually took a jitney. But we had a little walk to the Zoo entrance from the jitney stop. A taxi will drop you off at the entrance.

Ardastra Gardens Zoo and Conservation Center is really neat.

But it is not like out zoos in the US. It is small but very interesting.

    My kids did enjoy themselves.

With the flamingos, the kids just walked right up to them. Cool pics!

It will not take all day to do this, so you might want to plan for something else also.

The day we did the Zoo, we also took a horse carriage tour, shopped at the strawmarket, pirate museum, and did the Zoo.

trying to do some research for our trip to bahamas in december. daughter and family (two kids age 5 & 8) want to do the beach in freeport and nassau. daughter is much too trusting.... so what is scarey about some of the beaches. is it theft?
