Portside or Starboard?

    Portside or Starboard?

    Im planning on taking my first cruise in March, and I dont know wheather to choose a portside room or a starboard room? Any suggestions??? Smile

    The port side only has a view of the ocean. The starboard side only has a view of the land.

    Just kidding.

    The only time it really makes a difference which side of the ship you are on is when you are in port. Those are likely to be the times you are not going to be in your cabin, so it really won't matter. If you are on the 4-day then the ship will anchor off Catalina island. The current usually flows from north to south, so the port side of the ship will (mostly) face the island and the starboard will face the mainland.

    In Ensenada it is most likely that the starboard side will face the dock, and the port side will face towards where they are/were working on one of the Black Oysterpoo stand-ins from that series of movies about Jack Bird-something (or so I was told).

    Practically speaking, you're going to see all the above and more from on land or above deck anyway, so it doesn't matter.
