Lots of places.  It depends on what port and or city you are talking about.

You did I just did not see that Sorry!

There is a Holiday Inn Express less then 5 min form the dock.  Also many places near the airport that all offer free parking.  Check the usual web sites like HI or Marriott etc.

The Holiday Inn on Airport Rd does NOT offer a FREE Shuttle. It is $20 per person round trip.

We were talking about the Holiday INN express.

That sure seems less expensive then parking at $15.00 per day.  I would bet a cab would even be cheaper as it is really less then 5 minutes from the port.

Not really. We have four people (2 adults and 2 children) in our party. That would have been $80 for just the shuttle back and forth.

We ended up booking at LaQuinta Inn on Duval. The room rate was $37.80 for 2/doubles. Parking is $5 a day. Then the night we come back the room rate is $35.10 for the same room. So, I think this was our best deal.

Oh, when booking be sure to mention if you are a AAA member. That saved us A LOT!

I think you missed the fact that The Holiday Inn Express is not by the airport. It is by the cruise port and a short 5 min taxi ride.  They do not have shuttle service from the Holiday Inn Express because it is so close.

I am sure you will do fine at the LaQuinta just not my favorite place to stay when traveling anywhere.

I think I did misunderstand that. Do you know the address or what street that Holiday Inn Express is on?

I looked them up, but it looks like the one you are talking about is booked.

Is there something wrong with the LaQuinta Inn? I am staying with children and don't know the area. Is it a bad area? I am very catious when traveling with children and don't want to stay in an "unsafe" area.

Can I ask you why you don't like it?

    Thanks for your help!

I travel all the time and I prefer better accomodations.

I am staying with children and don't know the area. Is it a bad area?

Not too bad but not wonderful, typical airport strip location.

I am very catious when traveling with children and don't want to stay in an "unsafe" area.

No special reason just prefer better accomodations.

    Thanks for your help!

It is 0.5 miles from the port.  If you did not have luggage, you could walk it is so close.

Thanks for the information. I checked into it. But for 1/3 the price, I think we will sacrifice a little comfort. We would rather spend our money while we are on the cruise.

    Thanks for all your help.

Great different things for different people.  Not our choice but that's whats great about our country, we can all have our own preference.

I know you will have a great cruise as the Fascination is a good ship and the port here in Jacksonville is one of the easier ones to get in and out of.

My husband and I are on the cruise in Octoberand we had orginally booked the LaQuinta Inn and then I started reading all the various posts and even went so far as to look it up on Google Earth.....needless to say we  canceled our reservations and are opting out for the Holiday Inn Express and their cruise package. It maybe a little pricey but you get what you pay for.... I feel that our vechile will be in a safer location and I liked the looks of the hotel from Google Earth.

Good luck and hope you enjoy your cruise.

We are cruising 9/19/09. I just booked us at the Microtel Suites for a party of 4, free parking for 5 nights, shuttle to and from the ship ($12 pp) round trip....My total was like under 130.00!  You cant hardly beat that! I am soooo excited! I cant wait to meet some new friends! My husband, (identical) twin and a friend are anxiously waiting!! (9 more days!)

Flew out of JAX on 11-1 to MIA to sail on the imagination.   Stayed at the comfort suites  room was $ 80 per night  and they wanted 6.00per day  to park for the week  they did have a hire rate with free parking but ir worked out about the same .   I parked at USA Park http://www.usapark.net/  they have a coupon for first timers for 3.75 per day.   they will take you to the airport  where you can get the carnival shuttle.
