    Re: cigarettes-

My son-in-law started to smoke when stationed in Iraq. It was very difficult for him to stop even with the patches. Lots of emotional issues go on there. He couldn't smoke in the house or in the yard (fire hazard) so he smoked in the street. My daughter was after him all the time and finally, after 2 years he has stopped. No longer does he crave them. He also has become a nag to others to stop. Will power are the two words along with " I want to quit"

    Re: cigarettes-

We were on Fantasy January 5, 2009 and there were smokers everywhere. My husband was one of them. Im not a smoker but I did bring a carton back for him. They are cheap in Mexico he got 2 cartons for like $45.00...thats a great deal. In Missouri where we are from they are high but from what I'm reading other states have it worse than ours. But there is smoking allowed but in certain areas. Happy Sailing

    Pam,

You can quit. If I could do it, you can too. I have not touched a smoke in over 3 yrs. I also quit cold turkey. You will feel so much better, and breath alot better too. i never knew how bad they smelled till I stopped. Now if i can get the DH to quit then I will win the bet. He said he would quit before our next cruise....days now till next cruise is 129...maybe I can get a new pair of shoes for winning the bet!

My husband and I did it 22 years ago. We used Nicorette gum. I think it's better than the patch because it satisfies the oral urge as well as calming the nicotine need. Go for it, girl. It's one of the best things I ever did for myself.

The other day someone told me about electronic cigarettes. I order one from amazon and absolutely love it. I am all for the designated smoking areas but here in Indiana they are banning smoking everywhere. Which really isn't fair to smokers. With these things you can use them anywhere even in places that have banned smoking. I ordered the electronic cigarette because it only contains nicotine no other harmful carcingens and no 1st or second hand smoke. We love it no smoke which means no ash tray. I hadn't heard of such a thing until a few weeks ago...thought I would share with my fellow smokers!

I have done a lot of research on these things and the are only 3 produced in the US. I'm not saying they are completely safe for me but they are safer for the people around me.
