    Re: Military rate code

Carnival does not display their Military rate on-line. The Military Rate is not offered on all cruises or for all Cabin Categories. You have to research some cruises you'd be interested in and Call Caqrnival. Otherwise, you can use sites like Expedia or cruise.com to research military rates.  You'll have to provide copy of active Military ID or DD214 with honorable discharge, within 2 or 3 days. ken

if you want to find out what cruises have the military rate offered seach on some of the other websites.... I know that vacationstogo.com has them listed.  once you find one you are interested in  then you can call carnival and tell them what you have found.

The easiest way is to call a PVP at Carnival and give them as much info as you can and ask if there are any Military rates available to fit your needs.

Call your PVP.  If you book your cruise in November 2008, for any cruise in 2009, you can book up to 3 cabins for the military rate.

But -  does using the military rate block you from all other sales?  For example, military rate on our cruise is 359, this week's one day sale is 499, but upgrades 4a to 4g.  So--- if I rebook at 499 to get the upgrade, may I then apply military rate to that price????

You will need to call  your PVP to check on which one is the better deal.

    Re: Military rate code

My husband and I are booked on the Military rate. We had to ask about discounts when we were booking our cruise with our Carnival Vacation Planner. We were told that at the time and for the ship we wanted on, the military rate was the cheapest. My husband had to send into them within a few days, his military honorable discharge form and a copy of his driver's license. I was on another website(Vacations to Go) late last night and saw that the cruise we have booked with Carnival had dropped dramatically since we booked, and I called them this morning and told them I had seen that the price for our cruise and our cabin had dropped and asked if I could get an on-board credit. I didn't mention an upgrade because we are happy with the cabin we picked and really didn't want an upgrade. And after waiting on hold for about 10 minutes, the lady told me we would be getting an OBC of $315. She will never know what a favor she did us!! Since booking this cruise, my husband has been on partial layoff at work, meaning instead of working full time, he is only working one week on and one week off. He has been that way all year. Sure hope the economy gets better. We have a high school reunion cruise booked for April 2009. Sure wish we could get military rates on that one too, but we have to abide with the group rate for that cruise. Now that we have gotten such great rates with Carnival's military discount, it will allow us to take a few more cruises with them than we had originally planned. Thanks to Carnival for doing this for our veterans and our current military personel.
