GLORY CRUISE 10/4-10/11 - GREAT CRUISE

We just returned from the Western Cruise on the Glory.  What a great time we had, despite some problems.  We got on-board in short order and our cabin was ready to go.  Our departure was delayed due to a 'Suspicious item' discovered in someone's checked luggage during the luggage scan.  We watched the procedures from the LIDO deck as the bomb squad checked it out.  I thank Carnival for the security checks.

Our cabin was not as cool as we keep our bedroom at home, the Pursers desk sent someone right away to check it out.  Although the technician said things were fine, the sent us a fan which made things better.  The next day we received an apology letter.  Our room was kept clean by our steward. Smooth sailing all of the way, no rough water at all.

Cozumel was great shopping.  Jeff, the 'Shopping guide', gave an expert seminar and we got good service, especially at Diamonds International.  His restaurant recommendation was also good.  Roatan was very good.  While we were disappointed in the Cameo Factory, the semi-submersible tour was very good, as was our tour guide and the shopping.  While it rained most of the day in Belize, it stopped for the time we were at the ALTUN HA ruins and finally for good during the Wallace River ride, most enjoyable seeing monkeys, crocadiles, bats, iguanas, lots of birds, and manatees (just as advertised).  Freeport was disappointing, but we did get the t-shirts and some good conch fritters.

Our dining staff was beyond compare and made the whole cruise.  They had us interacting with all of the tables they served.  Thank you Zos and Anthony.  The food was also excellent in the dinning room and the buffet.

We were extremely disappointed with the musical shows.  We had seen the female singer on the 'Inspiration' last March and we were not impressed with her then.  The dancers semed mechanical.  There was a male striptease at one show while children from Camp Carnival were present, and no advanced warning (not cool).  We did enjoy the Magician and the comedian.  We spent alot of time at the karioke singing and were then very familiar with the people performing in the Carnival Legends show, which was great.

We arrived in port at 7:00, were called for self-assist at 7:20 and were in the car by 8:00.  It would have been quicker but Immigrations computeres went down for about 10 minutes.

Thank you Carnival for a GREAT TIME.

    Bill
