Why can't I ever get OBC

I noticed today that my cruise price dropped $30/person.  I called my TA and was told that yes the price dropped $30 but Carnival just redid the way they do fees and taxes and if they were to redo my reservation for the lower price I wold have to pay $31/person more for those fee therefore actually paying $2 more.  Does this seem right to you?

Little seems "right".  But it's typical.

The way I figure it, the cruise is bought and anything I suddenly find being tossed at me is a gift ... and it doesn't pay to expect gifts.  I've never gotten any onboard credit in 6 cruises, and I'm not holding out any hope of having any.

If you booked before February, you wouldn't have paid the $9 a day fuel surcharge per person.

This means that any price adjustments will now add on the charge before they deduct anything.

Re: Why can't I ever get OBC

Hello, I booked our cruise through CCLabout 1 month ago to travel Feb 1. I check CCL site once a day for price drops, as they update their site 4 times daily. Last week I noticed the price dropped $20 per person, called my pvp and took a 1 deck upgrade and $10 person off my bill instead. When there is a price drop, depending on how much of a drop, there are options such as OBC, upgrades, money off your bill, or my case, money off my bill plus an upgrade. So to me, NO, your situation doesn't sound right.

If you booked at the time of a lower Fuel surcharge, then Carnival does charge you the current higher fuel surcharge when you take advantage of a price drop, so the price drop needs to be noticeably greater than the fuel surcharge increase.  ken

Maybe because you went through a TA.  You should call carnival directly with your  booking number.  The rates have gone down 2x since I booked and we have received OBC both times.  Hope carnival can help you directly.

Don't bother calling Carnival - Carnival will not discuss booking issues with you if you have a TA - all these issues have to be between TA and Carnival.  ken
