Are we suppose to already have the invitation for the past guest party?

or do we get that at the time of boarding ship?

It will be placed in your stateroom by your steward. Sometimes the night before, sometimes earlier.

 It should also come with a little stick pin

I've heard of people who write to the customer service & they get one in the mail 

When my dbf and I cruised last week, he got his invitation the night before the past cruisers reception.  It had no pin and it didn't say anything about bringing a guest (me).  So he didn't go.

I have always recieved my pin of the different ships. I took my duaghter with me last year to the past guest reception. It was her 1st, so the invitation was only in my name, and nobody said anything when I brought her in with me. I turned in the invitation at the door too...I know of others that have also brought their traveling companions to the reception too.

 ok, can you give me some info on this? Do they have the past guest party on all the sailings or just longer ones? I am going on a 5 night sailing (Destiny) Feb 14th. I am a past Carnival Cruiser as is a friend of mine in a different cabin.Neither of us have these "pins" people are referring to...do we need to get them ahead of time and how do we do that.   And...you mentioned you brought your daughter so I wonder if each of us can bring a guest with us to the party?

I received my pin on my second cruise, along with my invitation to the past guest party.  No you do not have to have a pin to go to the party, just the invitation, as mentioned before they do collect them, but don't make a big deal of it.  Some post say you can each take a guest, and others are not sure.  I never tried because both my husband and I have gone on the same amount of cruises.  The cruise in May my son and daughter in law are going with us on their first cruise. woohoo!! So maybe we'll try to take them to the party.

The Pins LOL...they are nothing expensive or anything, they are just lapel pins in the shape and look of the Carnival ships and it has the name of your ship on it. Just a souvenior. I use mine on the first page of my scrapbook of each cruise, along with a pic of the ship. No you do not need the pin to enter the past guest reception. I don't even call it a party, it is a reception. The only reason I go is for the free cocktails, LOL I have missed some of these receptions because they were hosting it at  times when I was doing something else. The last cruise I was on, they had it while we were still in port, and I stayed in port rather than get on the ship early for it. I think they do that so they don't have to give so much extra food and drinks for free. As for bringing a guest, I don't see why you couldn't bring 1 per invitation. Don't know if they would stop you at the door and ask for the other invitation, I just know that I didn't have a problem bringing my daughter with me.

We are first time cruisers but will stay for 2 cruises: first week western caribbean, second week eastern caribbean. Will we be invited, too, to that party?

I think you will on the second week, but not the first because you are not a past guest.  it's nice because there is free alcohol and nice hor devores.

Opinion alert!

this is just my personal opinion so take it or leave it.

The past cruisers reception was kind of stupid and I doubt we will go agian.  We don't drink alcohol so that wasn't a draw for us.  We had heard that the reception was a must go to because they give away lots of prizes.  Well they did give out prizes......one!  tickets to the supper club which we had already gone to the night before.  We left thinking "well that was dumb"  We did have to BEST time on our cruise though so this was okay.
