We found out at 57 days.  We were told that it would be anyhwere from 60 days out which is when you make your final payment up until the day you ship out.

What are the pro's and con's of doing this method? I would suspect that you may end up getting a great room. But I just wanted to make sure.

The pros are:  It's cheaper.  You might get a free upgrade.

The cons:  You could be assigned a room anywhere on the ship.  You might not know where you'll be until you sail (altho that's rare).  You might NOT get a free upgrade.

I usually do this!  I haven't been burned yet!

    Good luck, and happy sailing.

To clarify, you could be assigned a room anywhere on the ship AS LONG AS it's no worse than whatever guarantee you buy.  In otherwords, if you buy a cat 6 guarantee on say, empress deck, you WILL NOT be assigned an inside cabin ANYWHERE nor will you be assigned a cabin on a lower deck.  Of course, the more specific you get with your guarantee, the more it costs.

    Re: Room assignments.

I am a bit disappointed in my assignment,,,,,I was a travel agent for 13 years, though it's been 5 years since I worked in the field,,,many many times people who booked TBA cabins got wonderful upgrades, ESPECIALLY for aniversaries, etc.  Unfortunately, lol,,,,I did not,,,,and it's my 25th aniversaryTongue Tied sigh,,,oh well,,,I thought I'd call a few days out and see if I could get one, but it may be that the ship is just BOOKED. I got what I paid for, but not one category better,,,lol,,,well, we will have a wonderful time regardless, and one can't be too picky Zip it!  Holly
