Not nervous at all. Cruise is already paid for. I have been saving up for this separately from my emergency cash. I am pretty much debt free except for the $300 traffic ticket I got this past weekend.  Angry That is the only thing that will keep me from going on as many excursions as I had planned.

Take your cruise and try not to think about what is happening back home.

Ride out the economic storm, it will get better.  We had a similar crisis in the 70s and 80s (not as significant as now, but now is the blame of bad mortgage loans, abuse of position, etc.) and things leveled out with time.  If you are young, you have time to recover the losses of your retirement account.   When you do recover some, my advice would be to transfer a portion to a guaranteed interest instead of high risk.  Won't make as much money, but when the market has a down-side, you won't lose as much.

Well I figure as far as vacations go cruising is a great value especially if you can drive to port, and I plan on staying on top of price drops and such...and there are always ways to cut a few corners.  That being said there's no turning back for me Cool

    Was yours deserved?

I have one for 166.50 for a missing mudflap that I had absolutely no way of knowing was gone.

Anyway, no offense to any PO's we have out there, but most of the traffic enforcement these days is little more than revenue collections.Again, no offense. You po's are only doing what your bosses and their bosses say to. Sorry, I almost got on my soap box...

    Have a great night.

The cruise, shore excursions and tips are all paid for.  I saved for this vacation instead of putting it on a credit card, so I don't have to worry about rising percentage rates.  I have also saved for extras like souvenirs, drinks, a couple of photos etc.

Teri, we are right there with you!  We have a low intrest CC that we only use for travel. We booked our cruise in May, paid that off, and just booked our excursions which will be paid for the first of next month.  We only booked three, so we could spend some of our time exploring on our own.  Look at it this way, if anyone has to cut back on extras on their cruise, just remember these ships have soooooo much to do on board!  Are cruise is in Dec., during Christmas. We are so looking forward to it!  We own our own buisness, and seen some slow down, but we are keeping busy.  We are blessed with sound advice and keep most of our profits in the business, with little debt owed.  If we are lucky we hope to sell in 5 years and semi-retire.

Re: With the economy like it is...

I'm glad I found this thread. I just had a client of mine wondering how we could be going on a cruise with the economy so bad. I explained that a cruise is very cheap (cheaper than a week at Myrtle Beach), and that my wife and I plan our cruises 1 1/2 years out, in order to progressively pay it off. With this plan, we never have a problem with being short on cash, the cruise is paid off, and all our spending money is ready to go.
