the drain in our shower was so slow that the bathroom floor would get wet every time we took a shower

It may have been a slow drain, in which case the issue lies with the guests who notice the slow drain and do not report it to housekeeping, but rather hold it in reserve to complain about it afterward.

It may also have not been a slow drain.  Water will escape the [small] shower and get the bathroom floor wet for a number of reasons having nothing to do with the plumbing.

    1. the shower curtain only barely reaches the lip of the shower stall and if there is any wrinkle or cling in the shower crutain at all there will be a gap that allows spray to escape
    2. +++++++++++++  I forgot one ++++++++++++++  the shower curtain barely reaches the lip of the shower stall and quite frequently is outside the lip, thus causing shower spray to run down the curtain and directly to the floor outside
    3. the lip of the shower stall is quite short, and -- believe it or don't -- the boat itself will not remain level.  This means that at any given point during a shower, there may be pools of water not running toward the drain that the showerer will step in and splash over the lip of the stall and onto the bathroom floor
    4. basic condensation and dripping that occurs in all bathrooms during and after showers

Well Ross, I never thought I'd disagree with you but here ya go!  This actually happened to us on one of our cruises - each time we took a shower you could actually watch the water bubble UP from the floor drain.  We'd end up with 2" of water on the entire bathroom floor, making it essentially pointless to have a floor mat down!  We called our steward who sent maintenance to fix it.  The next shower - same thing!  Took them 2 days (out of 5) to finally get it fixed.  Of course, that in NO WAY ruined our cruise!!  But, to be fair to the poster, it CAN happen!

Ecstasy not up to mine either. Bad food, looks like a decor from the 70's disco/roller rink. Pools are a joke for 2050 passengers. Was my first cruise & will be my last due to bad experience. Got food posioning from hamburger uncooked. Ship lost engine on way back to port. 7 hrs late getting back. Stood in line for over an hour in hot sun for the burgetr that made me sick. ship had no planning for food since we were suppose to be off ship before lunch that day. Shows were so cheezy. Anything fun to do cost extra on your sail & sign card. Crew members at Ports Of Call were so rude felt like I was back in school & a ruler to be smacked on my hand any second. To the people who love to cruise good for you, glad ya like it. Me I have been to some really nice exotic resorts ALL inclusive for tghe money I spent on this, could have done that instead. If you love crusies try the resort route once, see which one you like better for the money. Most resorts all your excursions are included no extra for snorkel, etc. I tried this didn't like it. To each their own!

Why would you eat an uncooked burger??......Oh, and why don't you try to dance on stage in the middle of the ocean on heels?  No vacation is perfect but I do believe that we have the power to research the best we can and enjoy the time we get away from work and real life.  If resorts are better for you then you should stay on land.  I have never been on a bad cruise and have always felt blessed that I even had a chance to sail the world.  Personally I would rather be on the sea.  Sorry you had such a bad experience.>>Believer

I just got off of my first Carnival cruise this morning on the Carnival Imagination.  From day one, I subconsciously started comparing this cruise with every other cruise line that I've been on. For instance, I am used to very attentive stateroom attendants and wait staff. Not once did any of them introduce themselves to us or addressed us by name. The food in the dining room was not good at all. The steak was very gristley and fatty, and the lobsters were the size of large shrimps. Also, worst of all, I fell on the upper deck where the water slides were... TWICE! The deck was wet, and I couldn't even get a grip with my shoes that had tread on the bottom. There were two maintenance crew members just beside me on the edge of the ship painting new blue lines, and neither of them made any attempt to assist me. I spent the majority of my cruise with stiff legs and bruised knees. There were so many drunk, unruly people swearing all over the ship. That would never be put up with on other cruises. I will say that the entertainment and Fun Crew Staff were really great, especially Cruise Director Karl (with a K). I was upset because I was really looking forward to this, and I was let down. Anybody else have a similar story about the Imagination?

I fell on the inside of the Lido deck and several crew came running to assist.  By the time I was standing they had a 'wet floor' sign up because I spilled an entire latte.  I went to get some aspirin from the ships doctor and they already knew that I had fallen pretty badly, they were expecting me.  I could not have asked for better support during a fall.  Sorry your experience was not as good.>>Believer

PS: As for the Imagination, this was my first Carnival cruise and Honeymoon, I have perfect memories of this ship.

Re: Not up to my expectations

WOW OK I guess you all didn't enjoy your cruise So sorry to hear that I truly am, I do understand that there were some problems however! 1 bad cruise shouldn't ruin cruising forever! I have been on 3 cruises and they were all GREAT in there own way(CARNIVAL ONLY) however on My very first cruise our waiter His name was Robert was horrible I mean Horrible!!! He acted Like Lerch from Adams family Thats what we have called him since cruise one! No personality what so ever was more like a robot!!! But everything else was great and it didn't stop us we have been on 2 other cruises ( actually last cruise we saw him again Thank Goodness he wasn't our waiter we would have asked to change and I believe carnival would have done it!)  Actually on our last cruise we had a waiter who was sent from heaven he was truly amazing the best ever his name was SHY from Thailand he more then made up for Robert. We will go again in sept !!! Can't wait!!!!

As far as Missing Luggage!!! I bet it was Black and Blended in with the Other 400 bags that are also Black!!! Maybe try a different color or what we do is I twist all different color Pipe cleaners on our bags so they stand out!!! so No one will think its theres!!

Also I have been to resorts and I can tell you some were great But some Stink!!!! we had ants in the bathroom and feminine products left behind so I guess that Bathroom wasn't clean!!! and that was a room that was almost $500 a Night so it just shows you No everything will be perfect all the time!!! sometimes there are over sites!!! But that wont stop me from going again to have a great time!!!

Re: Not up to my expectations

I've only been on two cruises.  The first one was on the Imagination and it was GREAT!!  Never had any problems and everybody was so attentive.  The crew went over and beyond for both my boys.  The second one was on the Pride.  It's a great ship.  We never thought we could have more fun than we did on our first cruise but we was wrong!!!  On the first night after dinner and exploring the ship I went back to the room to put our bags in our room and to unpack while my husband and boys were out of my way.  I got there and they had already put the bags in a corner in the room for me.  So I start going through them and notice one of my bags is missing.  I contact the room steward and they told me all the luggage has been delivered so I needed to go to the information desk.  I went down and they asked me what was in the bag and I told them it was my bag that had all my bathroom things in it.  Shampoo, perfume, conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrushes, sunblock, EVERYTHING!!!  They told me to wait til morning to see if it comes up.  Morning came and nothing.  So I went back down.  They told me they had contacted the port in Baltimore and it's not there so it must have been delivered to someone elses room and they weren't returning it.  They said they would give me $100.00  obc to help me replace some of the things and if it didn't show up before the end of the cruise then when we got off to contact carnival and they would deal with it.  So we went and got some of the things we needed in the gift shop with our obc and went and enjoyed ourselves.  Why let something out of your control ruin your vacation.  You're still on a beautiful ship and going to some great places.  Losing my bag didn't change that.  So by the end of the cruise our bag didn't show up and they sent me priority tags to exit the ship first and they gave me the number to Carnival so I could contact them on the Monday after we got home.  I called and they said they needed to give it some time to research at the port and make sure it didn't show up.  I did have one lady that was rude and told me it happens and they weren't doing anything else.  But the other lady I talked to said they usually wait 60 days after the cruise to give it time to show up before they talk about reimbursment.  I told them I was disappointed with that because we wanted to book another cruise within the 60 days to get the other discount they give you as a welcome home but I wasn't booking anything else until I seen how they handled that.  One mistake I made was not having the vacation insurance.  But in my defense nobody offered it to me on either cruise.  Before this I never did a lot of traveling so really didn't know about it.  But to give Carnival credit they sent me a check to cover my bag and I had plenty of time to book my next cruise and recieve my discount.  So we are looking forward to our next one on the Valor but we do have to wait for it til 2010.  This time I do have the vacation insurance.  I guess the point here is you can't let the small things ruin a family vacation.  It's always what you make it.  Everybody could find something to complain about if they want to find something to gripe about.  But everybody could have a good time if they would lose their high and mighty better than eveybody else's attitudes and look at the positive!!
