Volunteer-oriented shore excursions on Grand Turk

I saw on Cruise critic that when Carnival returns to Grand Turk they will offer volunteer-oriented shore excursions so passengers and crewmembers can help with the rebuilding efforts around the island. Could you please post details of this, i.e how this works, if tools such as hammers need to be brought, if any particular immunizations are recommended, etc.?  I think it is WONDERFUL that Carnival is offering something like this so that people who would like to help and are willing to give up a day of their vacation to help others in need have the opportunity to do so!

Yes, Carnival will offer volunteer-oriented shore excursions when the port in Grand Turk  re-opens.  However, the details have not been ironed out as of yet.  They have advised that we check back the week of that first sailing which will be October 8th.

I know that my Feb cruise is still a ways out, but I was planning on volunteering to help their economy Smile

    Seriously,

This is great.  I truly hope that some of the cruisers will take this opportunity.

Encouraging news and pictures today from Grand Turk:

There's no mention of the passengers volunteering anything but funds to the United Way, but it is at least good to hear that things are working their way back to normalcy on the island.
