    January 18th , 2009 Anyone else going?

     Hi all,

Just checking, we are going to be on the Legend  January 18th through the 25th.  We can't wait.  It is our 5th cruise, we have been on the Victory (02), Conquest (04), Destiny (07), and Valor (08).  We live in Iowa and just before the winter ends, my husband turns to me and says, "Do you want to go next year?" Well DUH !!! The most relaxed and pampered I have ever felt has been on those cruises.  I'd go every year, oops, it kind of looks like we are, especially since we are already looking at the Freedom January 16th, 2010.  Oh well, what can I say, I am hooked!

Hope some of you come along with us, it's a big ship to have all to ourselves.

Hi, we will be sailing on the Legend Jan 18th too. It's our first time on a Carnival Cruise, although my 3rd, hubby's 2nd and our son's first.  Our son's b'day is the 19th (he will be 10) so he will get to have a little celebration onboard.

We are flying down on the 17th (we're from Canada, will be flying out of Detroit) so will also have to book a room in Tampa. If you have any suggestions on a good, clean place with a free shuttle to the port it would be appreciated.

We haven't had a real vacation in 16 yrs so I am really starting to look forward to it now that it's actually booked and a reality. I guess we can begin the countdown.

Hopefully we will run into each other at some point onboard.

I like the idea of flying down a day ahead of time, too.  We did it on our 1st and 2nd cruises then we let people convince us to save a few bucks and fly the day of embarkation on the last two, NEVER AGAIN.  I don't care what it costs, the stress factor of flying on embarkation day is not worth it. I don't know where we are staying.  I leave that up to our travel agent.  She will get us on the plane, to the motel, and on the ship.  It is part of my no stress policy, let someone else do the problem solving. We almost always run into people from Canada on our cruises.  It takes some snow and ice for someone to truly appreciate the warmth of the Caribbean in January.

Look forward to seeing you on the ship,

    Sharon

Sandy Beach Count us in!  We are flying in from Washington State on January 14.  We will drive to the Everglades before the cruise.

This is my 5th and hubby's 3rd Carnival cruise.  We have also been on NCL, Celebrity, and RCCL.  Love all the ports we are going to visit.  Have you decided on any tours?

Hopefully we can keep in touch for the next 120 days before we board the Legend!

    Take care,

    Kathi

The more the merrier!  So far, we are traveling on our own.  Many friends want to join us, but so far, nobody has made the jump.

Jack loves to snorkel, and I love to go with him, so that is what we are definitely doing on Roatan and Grand Cayman.  Not sure exactly what we are doing in Belize or Cozumel.  Last time in Cozumel we did the Dophin Encounter - that was cool!

Does anyone else have excursions planned?  I see a few are now available on the Carnival website. Hopefully more will show up each week.

    Under 100 days to go . . .

    Party!!!

We have some new people going with us so.... on Grand Cayman we HAVE to do Stingray City, Hell , and the Turtle Farm.  We haven't really decided about Cozumel yet, the last time we were there we just wndered around and shopped.  Belize is the real question mark.  Most of the excursions don't seem to fit us so well, but I'm sure we'll find something.  Belize seems to be more of an adventure site and we are more into relaxing with some fun thrown in.  Honduras has a few things that we like but nothing is showing up yet for there.

Basically, other than Grand Cayman we are just waiting for more excursions to show up.  See ya on 1-18-09.

This will be our second trip to Grand Cayman.  Our advice, skip the turtle farm and go to any 2nd rate zoo to see more and better.  Likewise, skip the trip to Hell.  There is nothing to see (even for a geologist), and even less to do.  We do recommend Stingray City, and as almost all of the stingray tours go to the same spot one is much like the others.

We do recommend Seven Mile Beach, the shopping, and of course the Tortuga Rum Cakes and Tortuga Rum.

Is anybody else traveling with kids? We will have our 9 yr old son with us for his first cruise.

    Congratulations,

We'll look for the bride and groom at the lifeboat drill. Are you getting married in the ship's chapel?  It sounds romantic.  See you in 81 days.

Thank you! We will not find out exactly where on the ship the ceremony will be until a couple of weeks prior. But I do know our reception will be in the piano bar because we hired the piano player. :) I am so excited!! This is my first cruise and my fiances second. I have heard that we will meet so many wonderful people so I cannot wait. :)
