I just heard. Yes we are still going!!!!!! They said we will cruise down the mexico coast into Cozumel.

I hope there is an itinerary change because I am not too crazy about sailing along w/ Hurricane Ike.  Has anyone had any experiences with receiving a credit w/ Carnival after cancelling?  

I heard they were meeting about the cruise now to see what and if there were changes, we are coming from Shreveport in the morning and I sure hope they don't cancel it and we drive all the way there... Has anybody heard if the cruise is still on ????

has anyone received any news as of 6:47 pm.  I can't believe they are still sailing when Galveston is doing voluntary evacuations.

 Galveston Departures – September 11 and September 14

US Coast Guard announced Wed 9/11/08 that Galveston and Texas City ports to close at 11 a.m. Thursday to inbound traffic and 11 p.m. to outbound vessels, Galveston Port Director Steve Cernak said.  But officials are allowing enough time for Carnival Cruise Lines’ Ecstasy to arrive and depart Thursday (7AM and 7PM respectively). I think they are just trying to keep from paying people due to a cancellation.  We are going to be rolling around the ship with 35 ft swells, wind and rain.  Oh boy, can't wait.  I am debating letting them keep the $$$$$.  What a joke!  Every football game from Dallas to Corpus Christie is canceled but we are going out on a boat into a hurricane.  Brilliant. 

I am in a group of 7 who are scheduled for the 9/11 cruise and we are all sorry we didnt purchase the travel insurance. We have decided to not go. We are not up for rolling on the 18-20+ foot sea swells that are going to be in the gulf and spending a lot of the time in rain. I am not even sure if Carnival will cancel even when and if a mandatory evacuation is issued for all of Galvestson and I think its just a matter of time before that happens.  How nice of the port authority to give Carnvial that 7:00AM - 7:00PM window of opportuntiy to get out of the Galveston Thursday. Sounds like to me once Carnival is out of the Galveston area, the cruise line is no longer a concern to the port auhority, its all about money baby and they all want their part.

I KNOW THAT THEY ARE TRYING TO KEEP THE MONEY!!!!!! THEY HAVE TO GET THE SHIPS OUT OF THE PORT FULL OR NOT AND IT COST THEM JUST AS MUCH TO MOVE IT EMPTY AS IT DOES FULL! MY 2 FRIENDS AND I HAVE BEEN CALLING NON STOP FOR @ 3 DAYS AND ALL YOU GET TO DO IS TALK TO SMART ASS PEOPLE WHO DONT KNOW MUCH OF ANYTHING! I LIVE IN TEXAS CITY WHICH IS IN GALVESTON COUNTY AND I AM EVACUATING! MY FRIENDS AND I HAVE DECIDED TO JUST LET THEM KEEP THE DAM MONEY BUT WE WILL BE MAKING A COMPLAINT. THAT IS PRETTY IRRESPONSIBLE OF THE PORT AUTHORITY TO ALLOW THEM A WINDOW!!!!!!!!!! I DIDNT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT CRUISE INSURANCE IT WAS MY FIRST CRUISE AND MY AGENT WAS A FLAKE!!!!!!! IM NOT TO SURE THAT I WILL BE BOOKING A CRUISE WITH THEM AGAIN!!!! IT SEEMS TO ME LIKE NO MATTER WHAT ANGLE YOU LOOK AT IT THERE ASS IS COVERED AND WE ARE SKREWED!!!!!! MY FAVORITE QUOTE THAT ONE OF THEM TOLD ME TODAY WAS "MAM IT IS OUR MAIN GOAL TO ENSURE YOUR SAFETY" HMMMMMMMM DONT THINK THAT IS HAPPENING!

IVE TRIED THE WHOLE CANCELING THING WITH THEM AND THEY HAVE TOLD ME THAT YOU CAN CANCEL BUT YOU WILL NOT BE GETTING YOUR MONEY BACK !!!!!!!!!!! THE ONLY WAY TO GET YOUR MONEY BACK IS IF THEY CANCEL OR THE ITINERARY CHANGES AND MORE THEN LIKELY THEY WILL LET YOU GET ON THE CRUISE AND THEN TELL YOU IT HAS CHANGED AND AT THAT POINT THEY OFFER YOU A WHOLE 20.00 CRUISE SHIP CREDIT AND THAT IS IT!!!! NO REFUND!
