    Debarkment in Civitavecchia

There is a group of us (6 ladies) cruising on the Carnival Freedom in October.  We are staying an extra day in Rome and trying to make arrangements for transportation from the pier to our hotel in Rome.  We are looking at reserving a limo service but need to provide them a pick-up time.  Since we don't know when we'll be able to leave the ship, we're reluctant to reserve the limo and take the chance we won't meet the pick-up time.  If we're more than 30 minutes late, the limo service will charge our credit card and leave.  Is it safe to say we will be off the ship by 9:00am if we have a limo pick-up time of 9:30am?  Does Carnival allow passengers the option of carrying their bags off the ship which allows them to leave the ship at anytime?  Any other suggestions?

    Re: Debarkment in Civitavecchia

We were on Freedom last summer. We booked Roma Shuttle Service (romashuttle@yahoo.it). They provided great service both pre and post-cruise. We told them to pick us up at 9am. We were off the ship at 8:30. Luggage pickup was easy. The shuttle driver met us right outside luggage pickup. We walked maybe 40 feet to reach him. What was great about Carnival last year was that we could specifically tell them what time we needed to meet our ride back to Rome... nothing like with our recent Royal Caribbean trip! We liked Europe and Freedom so much, we're doing Carnival Dream next September.
