    Liberty Review

Just wondering if there is anyone who has been on Liberty recently that has something positive to say?  "Worst Cruise Blues" in the Liberty Form has me a bit concerned.  Usually when someone complains, someone else writes to disagree, but so far the only posts have been in agreement w/ it being a bad ship/cruise!  I know people tend to spread complaints quicker than complements but it would be good to hear if anyone enjoyed their cruise since we are booked on Liberty this fall.  Thanks in advance for any comments!

    Luv2Cruise,

I have cruised on the Liberty and had NO problems, and I have cruised on many different cruise lines. I won't respond on the Liberty Forum since many may find my comments too critical.

What we don't know is what cruise line this person enjoyed in the past. If they were on a high end cruise line, then their "travel agent" should have done a better job to make sure they didn't go on Carnival. You don't put someone who stays at 4 star hotels in a 2 star hotel, and you don't put a luxury cruiser on Carnival.

I do believe that there were a lot of embelishments to the story, but it really looks like they didn't get the service they expected, and that can only be contributed to the lack of training and familiarity their best friend the "Travel Agent" has.

You will enjoy your cruise, especially the ports the Liberty visits.

We were on The Liberty in March 08. Had a wonderful time. Ship and personnel were excellent. Went to Cozumel. Panama & Costa Rica. In my opinion unless something really bad happens you pretty much have yourself to blame if you don't have a good time on a Carnival cruise. I also agree with Dscheidle's comments. You will have a great time on The Liberty. I read comments about the next ship I will be on but I reserve judgment until I have experienced the ship firsthand.

I totally agree with this statement. And personally, I would not hesitate to sail Liberty several more times. It's a great ship and the staff were excellent.

    Re: Liberty Review

I was just on the Liberty (8/23-8/30) and it was a great cruise.  It wasn't perfect, but nothing is.  First of all, I was on the Liberty of the Seas last year and that is a tough if not impossible ship to beat.  But, Carnival Liberty is also a beatiful ship.  There were a lot of things I liked better than RCCL.  First, I thought the food was better.  There were a lot of different specialties for lunch, such as: fish and chips, mongolian, deli, steak sandwiches, burgers, dogs, and that didn't even include the lunch dining room or buffet.  The cruise director,(Karl) was great.  He was very approachable when we ran into him on the boat or the ports.  The shows were good, not so much the dance shows, but the hypnotist, juggler and comedians were all very good.  The pool area was also good.  We had no problem getting good spots right by the main pool and giant screen every day and we didn't have to get there too early.  The slide was awsome because there was never a line.  What made this cruise fun, was we went with friends which really helped.  I think people expect too much on these mega ships and have to realize there are a ton of people on them, so there are going to be lines, no matter what cruise line it is.

Now for the cons.  Overall it was great, but I'm not sure I would go on Carnival again at that time of year.  Not that there were too many kids, two of them were mine,(twin 10 year olds who loved it) but a lot of teen riff raff and just a general rough crowd which I didn't notice so much on the Miracle 2 years ago.  I think next year we'll do the Freedom of the Seas just to change it up a bit, not that I would do the Liberty again, just a different time of year.  I think you'll have a great time.  A cruise is only as good as you make it.  If you want to, you can always find something to complain about.  Have fun.

I just got back on Sept.6 and had a great time. I enjoyed the crew and passengers. It exceeded my expectations. I loved it so much I've been depressed since I've been home. I am actually considering applying for a job. I know that it's nothing like being a guest but every one seems to really enjoy their jobs. I would definately sail on Liberty again.

luv2cruise, Please don't worry, you are going on a gorgeous ship! to be honest I have been on 15 Royal Carribean cruises, and 8 Carnival so far, which my last was last Oct, on the Liberty, that went to Costa Rica and Panama City, it was an 8 day cruise, and I happen to be on it for Halloween, WOW that was something! the ship went all out with Parties and contests, just fabulous, and with all the choices of dining, you never have to worry, if one choice is not that great!  you have so many others! out of all the ships I've been on so far, I loved the Liberty, and the Glory,( which I will be on a second time Nov,29th! ) the best part of going on the Glory for me is, I live 15 minutes away, no traveling, which can be a blessing! well I hope I've helped, please don't listen to anyone that has something negative to say about the Liberty, please experience for yourself, you are gonna love it!!!! and you are gonna have a  ball!!Wink

    Re: Liberty Review

We cruised out of Miami on August 30 to the western Caribbean.  The Captain reversed the itinerary due to Gustav and all went well.  This was my first Carnival cruise.  I had previously been on Royal Caribbean. and I'd say Carnival is far superior.

First of all, the Liberty is a beautiful ship; very cleaned and maintained and serviced by a dedicated crew that went out of their ways to make our experience first class.

Secondly, it seems the crewmembers really like their jobs.  Always smiling and willing to assist in any way.  The Lido deck is the outside deck where everyone gathers to bask in the sun and socialize.  The bar staff did a wonderful job catering to the guests.  They never had to ask you a second time for your name.  Gordon and Nestor were, perhaps, the all-stars that made our time on deck fun.

The Sliver Olympian Dining Room is where we had dinner every night.  A well-oiled machine run by Alex, the highly professional maitre'd.  His high standards were evident by the service provided by the staff.  Our waiter Phillips, and assistant waiter Dennis provided great service.  Phillips was very engaging and seemed to enjoy interacting with everyone.  Dennis was reserved but was just as service-minded.  By the way, did I mention the food?  Delicious!  Five or six entree choices every night.  Tasteful and beautifully presented.

The buffets were good but not what I expected.  Don't get me wrong.  There was plenty of delicious food but not as much seafood as I thought there might be.  The staff was very accommodating and responded well to special requests, especially the guy who was basically berated by a passenger who demanded a teaspoon rather than a soup spoon.  Not sure if I could have maintained my compsure with that woman.  Another cook/chef I have to give a shoutout to is the guy who made omelets on the Lido starboard station.  I don't remember his name and couldn't spell it if I tried.  Kudos to the galley entire staff.

We stayed in a balcony stateroom on deck 8.  It was fantastic being able to hang out on the balcony and enjoy quiet time away from Lido.  The couple we cruised with were right next door and our steward open the door that separated our balconys.  Our stateroom was very roomy and bright and we slept in the most comfortable bed ever.  Plenty of storage space and a goodsized bathroom.  The steward and his staff were very responsive and timely.

I'll mention the next thing only to see if anyone who was on the cruise noticed this.  We found that thw white-unifomed crew (the ships officers) were not as friendly as their crew was.  Of particular note was the tall blonde Scandinavian oficer who was responsible for the Lido deck and crew.  She never smiled and seemed to be really directive to her crew who were noticeable professional and efficinet in their duties.  Just an observation.

The entertainment was top notch and provided by a great group of entertainers.  Cruise Director, Karl with a K, was great; always providing timely information and interative with the guests.  Great stage shows and comedians.  If you get the chance to see comedian Percy Crews, it will be well worth your entertainment dollar.  He is a riot!

We thoroughly enjoyed our time on the Liberty.  I'm sure all the Fun Ships are similar in levels of service but we'll make it a point to cruise her again. Oh yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!

I totally agree with you. I was also on that cruise. I loved it. I didn't notice the ships officers.  Didn't see them that often but they always said hi to me when I did. Karl with a K was awesome. Cute too. Our headwaiter Catherine was awesome. I cried when I had to say goodbye to her. She was such a great person.

BIG FOOTZ.  Yes, the legends show was a blast.  The performers did a fantastic job.  Hey, we ended up with two Ships on a Stick; sports trivia and Family Feud. What a riot!

    Re: Liberty Review

Hi my wife and were on Liberty just last week . We had a great time on board ,great food in dining room ,presentation of food and taste were fantastic. deck 9 Lido deck buffet was varied and tasty, ( some good selections some avarage at best ) best choice in Emiles Lido deck was  stir fry but get there early as lines tend to be a little long. If it is sandwiches you would like for lunch also there is a deli on deck 9 with a pretty good selections and also a mexician style quesidillia and taco selections also on same  deck aft. The shows nightly were excellent with  singers and dancers and sometimes a rather R rated comiedian ( not for the kids ). Cabins were decent size we had a balcony on starboard side beds were very confy.( our attendent  could not do enough for us ) , other then weather really windy and occasional heavy rain ( NOT CARNIVALS FAULT )  our cruise was a wonderfull experience even with the bad weather ( could not use most pools and waterslide was shut down ) . Versaille pool on deck 9 has a retactable dome really cool try that one if weather is bad . Had to cancel Cayman Island port of call but Carnival did everything they could by adding extra ship activities to keep us  from boredorm.  I am sure you will have a great time , Happy cruising .
