Matching names & immunization records

    Matching names & immunization records

When I was looking through either the contract or the state depts site (I can't recall which), it stated that the names on your travel documents and your identification must match exactly.

My full first and last name are the same on everything, but somethings, like my passport also have my middle name. While I'm sure that they are referring to the first and last names being the same, I just wanted to double check.

As for immunization records~ when going into another country, are we required to have proof of immunization?

I printed a page with my immunization card, my DL and my passport and have it in with my travel documents and also have one to carry with me to port. That way if I have any problems, I will at least have a copy with me.

Hi Debbie, My passport has my full name (first, middle & last) like my birth certificate. My drivers license has my first name, middle initial and last name. Have not had any problems. I have not taken an immunization record on a cruise. Have a great cruise!

    Hi again Debbie

We have ony been on 2 cruises so far but for the Caribbean ones we have been on to date, we have not needed any immunization reacord. You do not need it for Mexico either as far as I know. We are going to the Mexican Riviera at the end of Sept. and have been there before and no proof was ever needed. My DL has my middle initial and so does my passport. The one thing is that our aire and cruise reservations do not have my middle initial and never have....but I have never had any problems in the past 8 years so I would think it is ok!

Re: Matching names & immunization records

as far as Carnival, they only need your LEGAL first and last name for your docs.

No hypens, special char, spaces, JR, ect... (in case anyone wonders)

As long as the first and last name on your passport, docs, and/or  DL are all the same you are good to go.

So, in your case, you have a passport and docs with matching LEGAL first and last names,  you are ok and ready to go!

No, you do not need proof of immunizations. So, thats One less thing to keep up with.

Hi, Debbie! Just a little word of advice. Do be sure to take your actual passport ashore with you, not a copy. Because if something were to happen, medical emergency, violence (God forbid), missing the ship's departure, etc., you would need that passport and not a copy. The copy would do you no good. Leave the copy on the ship and take the original with you.  And no, you definitely don't need an immunization record.  Also, my drivers license has my first, maiden, and last name on it, my passport has my first, middle initial and last name on it and there's never been a problem.  Be sure to fill out and print your fun pass on line! Saves lots of time when you get to the terminal.  Happy cruising, sweetie!  Jill

    Hey Jill,

Done deal, printed it out already and VIP, so I'm good on that. Trying to decide when to board, do I want to lunch on the Lido and carry my carry-ons, (laptop case, carry on bag, possibly a case of soda and a case of water all on a wheeled cart), if I can't get into my cabin or do I want to wait it out a little. Decisions, decisions...

As for taking my passport, I still don't know if I am going to take it ashore. I have heard both sides and will decide in due time. Having been a victim of identity theft and hit pretty hard, I am real funny about a lot of things (I shred my address labels off magazines, even though it goes to a PO Box~ LOL) and worry about losing and/or protecting them.

I tried to get the state to issue me an ID, but they won't if you have a license, so I may do as others have suggested and "lose" my license before I go and get a duplicate. I don't even want to carry it ashore, but see that I must. This way if I lose it or it is swiped, then I will have the new one and my ss card safe at home. (shoot, I don't even carry my ss card daily. It stays in the safe. The other day I forgot when I changed jobs that I needed it, so I had to bring it to them the next day. LOL

The reason I made and will carry a copy is in the event something does happen I will have the number. I asked the guy at the passport office (not the post office) and he recommended doing that because if anything does happen, even if you don't have it with you, they can pull up your information based on the information that is on the passport (all those numbers that are on the bottom). I do also have a copy printed out to keep in the cabin. Again I will decide in due time whether I will take it or not.

I wish I knew the size of the safe in the cabin. The organizer I will be keeping everything in is approximately 6" by 12" by 2"

Our safe on the Elation was about 12"wx8"hx6"d.  I'm only guessing though, we've already sailed.  Hopefully someone here can check for you before you sail.  I will said that we did put a file folder in there and it fit width-wise, but not quite depth-wise that's why I think it may have been around 6" deep.  Hope that helps a little.  Have a great cruise!!!
