    October 19, 2008 Mexican Riviera

My sister and I will be going to the the Mexican Riviera on the Carnival Pride - October 19, 2008.  This will be my second cruise and her first.  I have been telling her about all the wonderful people you can meet.  Matter-of-fact, I meet 4 of the most delightful ladies on my last cruise in September 2006, three of which I still keep in contact with.  We only have 65 days til the cruise.  Anyone else going on this cruise?

Hi Cindy- This is our honeymoon! We are very excited. This is our second cruise. Our first cruise was to Alaska on Holland America.I have found that theres not much talk about the Mexican Riveria on the Pride.I have enjoyed all the helpful tips and ideas on this site. Have you done much research on the ports? I would love to snorkel but hear its not very good where were going.I hope you both have a wonderful cruise. Teresa

First let me congradulate you on your upcoming wedding.

I have had a couple of friends that have done the Alaskan cruise and they loved it.  I am contemplating it for my next cruise in 2010.  I try to cruise about every two years - I would do it every year if I could afford to.

My sister is not much for Snorkeling so I had to find excursions that we will both enjoy.  We are booked to go on the following excursions:  Oct 22nd - Sunset Horseback Trip; Oct 23rd - Shopping, Beach & Lunch; and on Oct 24th - Land's End Boat, Beach & Shopping

    Only 52 days (8/28/08) left  YEAH !!!!

    ps...thanks for replying

    Hey all,

I just found this site, I use another one, but am really starting to like this one too!  The closer we get the more obsessed I become.  I can't wait to go, this is actually our honeymoon too, except we got married back in july!  So i am ready for this!   We have our excursions planned out, and can't wait.  We are getting massages in Puerto Vallarta, then just hanging out on Stone Island in Mazatlan, then finally and my absolute favorite...swimming with the dolphins in Cabo!   only a few more days!

    talk to you soon!

Congrats to you both. We are getting married next weekend. Im not trying to count the days hoping that will help with the stress(ha,ha). Is this your first cruise? Looks like you have done a little research if you already have your excursions picked out. I wanted to go snorkeling but not sure where.I was told its cheaper to book on your own. My husband to be speaks very good spanish so that will not be a problem. I love this site because everyone is so friendly and goes the extra mile to help each other out.I have learned  a lot of things here. If you have anything more to share that would be great. Where are you from? We are from Seattle Washington. See you soon.

Re: October 19, 2008 Mexican Riviera

Congrats to you guys also!  I am definitely counting the days!  It seems like it will never get here!  This is actually my 5th and my hubby's 2nd, I got him addicted to cruising too!  I have researched quite a lot, he got this as a surprise for me so I have been so excited!  The more excited I get the more I have to read about it all the time....I have heard Cabo has some of the best snorkeling because the water is the clearest there....I haven't ever done the Mexican Riviera so this is just what I heard.  Another nice option is to do the massages like us.  They are at the Krystal Resort, and for a couples massage it is only 75 bucks for 75 minutes...and yes that is the both of you!  I heard it is actually really nice, and usually takes  place on the beach. We should try to meet on the ship for drinks.  How old are you guys, we are both 25.  Right now we are living in Texas, me in San Antonio and him in Corpus Christi, we are both in the military so move around a bit!  Are you coming in the day before or the day of the cruise?  We are coming in the day before and staying at the Crowne Plaza b/c they had a nice cruise and fly package!  talk to you soon

Tabby- Wow this is your fifth cruise.Where have you been? You mentioned Cabo has some of the best snorkeling but do you know where? We are there for such a short time. The massage sounds wonderful! Yeah we should meet for drinks. Im in my mid 30's and my husband to be is in his late 40's. The day we sail is our 11 year dating anniversary. We are flying the day before because his family lives there and we get to see everybody.Im not sure where we are staying yet but they will drive us to the Queen Mary. I heard you can do early check in there at 10:00 and be on board before 1:00. Any tips on dos and donts for packing or sailing? What kind of cabin do you have? We have a extended balcony on the verandah deck. Talk to you later. Teresa

Re: October 19, 2008 Mexican Riviera

    Hey Teresa,

Well, I have been to quite a few places, unfortunately not Alaska yet!  My mom was addicted when we were growing up, so that helped me travel a little bit more.  I have been to San Juan, Montego Bay, St thomas, St Croix, St Martin, Barbados, Dominica, Aruba, Cozumel, Grand Caymen's, and I think I am forgetting some, and I know I hit some double!  So, from what I have heard Cabo is the best place to snorkel on our itinerary!  The  Santa Maria Bay is what I hear ppl talking about the most.

    http://www.cabosanlucastours.net/Chileno-Bay-Santa-Maria-Snorkeling.htm

That is nice that you will get to visit family and then head on to the ship, especially since they are in the area and will drop you off.  That is correct you can do early check in and hopefully be on board early.  However stuf might come up that could delay us!  Not saying it will, but I always like to be realistic.  That is probably the biggest tip I can actually give, that I have learned...go with the flow!  Nothing is going to be perfect so just ignore the the mishaps, laugh and have fun!   As for packing...I think I try to pack everything!  Unfortunately, we are trying to limit our luggage to the one bag b/c of fees!  But I am trying to remember our Halloween costumes b/c I hear they have a Halloween party and costume contest!  We actually splurged on our cabin this time and have an aft suite on the riviera deck!  I am so excited, I have always loved the balcony cabins so am ecstatic to have the extra room!  We decided that since we live apart b/c we are in the military that we will go the little extra bit this trip!  talk to you later

    Hi Natasha, welcome aboard!

I too am soooo excited about this cruise.  I love carnival.  It is a laid back easy going atmosphere.  I read in another one of your posts that 6164 is a suite...we have one too, is yours a wrap suite or in the middle of the ship.  We got a wrap suite, and I am so excited for that extra balcony space.  The pictures I have seen on here look really nice!  I can't believe you are going to be flying for 11 hours that...wow!  What do you guys have planned to do for shore excursions?  You will definitely get plenty of food on the cruise!  That is one of my favorite things about cruising is the variety, so many things I can try that I wouldn't even dream of trying if I had to actually pay for it at a restaurant!  I hear Camp Carnival is cool, but don't have any kids so no personnel experience there...sorry!  Maybe in a few more years!  Talk to you later

    Hi

We are yet to book any shore excursions, we would love to swim with the dolphins as a family but with myself being pregnant, im not sure on the restrictions so we will wait untill we get on board to book.  Also I think we are going to do the beach/resort getaway trips as I know the children will love nothing more than to play on the beach also hopefully I can sneak in a little shopping time!  We do not have a suite with a wraparound balcony (unfortunately!) it seems to be placed in the middle of the ship but we too are excited to see our stateroom! nice to speak with you

     Hi Natasha

Well we are from the UK originally and will be on the Pride on the 19th.  We live in California these days though so fortunately no long flight - just a one hour drive!  I have 3 children aged 10, 6 and 2. Can't wait!
