    Hey , what about hurricanes?

My daughters are presently on the Celebration due back Monday in Mobile, AL Looks likes Fay will be there too but I have no experience with storms like this. Can the ship dock in that kind of weather? How bad does the weather have to be for them to seek an alternative port? Does info like that get posted on this Carnival site somewhere? Thanks!

Sorry I said the wrong ship. It's the Holiday. Out of Mobile.

Re: Hey , what about hurricanes?

Ok, we just got back from going out on the Fascination out of Miami on Aug 18.

When we left port, Tropical Storm Fay was off of Cuba and headed toward Florida. We were scheduled to go to Key West and Cozumel. When we were on the Shuttle bus from the airport, a Carnival Representative came on board and told us that the itinerary had been changed. The weather was better south and west of Miami, so we would be going to Grand Turk instead. And because we would be missing one stop, we would an on-board credit of $25 per person.

We left Miami, right on time in the middle of the rain storm. The sea was extremely rough. In fact, I took pictures of the boat that takes the harbor pilot back to shore, and it looks like that boat was underwater more than it was on the surface!  A lot of people did get seasick that first night, but by morning everything was pretty calm.

Despite TS Fay, we had a good time.
