    Question For Previous Cruisers

I am a member of another board that are talking about the Soap Cruise that is planned on Carnival in 2009.  I am not coming on here to be negative at all. I want to ask if any of this is true. Someone came over on that board and said that Carnival Cruise ships were filthy, that there were holes in walls, wall paper coming down and also flies really bad in the hallway because room service trays filled with food are left in the hall ways for 2 days in a row.  I defended Carnival saying that I don't believe it.  I 've never seen this type of rubbish posted here and it made me mad that people have the nerve to start such junk. They were saying that Royal was so much better. I have heard that Carnival is so much better by far!  I would have copied and posted their post on here but I thought that I could get the point across by telling you the jidst of what was said.

Barb, You will find negativity on every board, including this one periodically. Folks just have unrealistic expectations before they cruise, and some of them just plain exagerate. I haven't been on one that is filthy, with wall paper falling off the walls, and I have seen a lot of room service trays in the halls, and none of them had flies around them. I have been on Royal too, and as you can see, we have come back to Carnival. Don't let such trash spoil your cruise. Some do it to draw attention to themselves.

I have been on 4 with carnival now and I can honestly say that i have never encountered any of the above complaints (personally sounds like someone trying to promote royal) I have seen trays out in the hallway it just depends what time you put them out how long they stay Trays out at midnight still there when go back to room at 2 but gone when up at 6 for my room service delivery so I guess it just depends when they go out...for that matter i;ve seen the same thing at hotels all over and yet noone comes on a blog site to bad mouth them makes no sence but thats the way it goes....if you are booking you will have a blast and the ship will be fne you can book with confidence..

it might sound ridiculous but I wouldn't doubt if there were Royal Caribbean employees on here just to bad-mouth Carnival. It seems childish, but some people don't have much to do with their time.

by the way:  I'm in no way implying that Carnival is perfect (no company is). But if you read some of the complaints on here, it's incredible. If Carnival was really as bad as some people make them out to be, they would have gone out of business a long time ago.

    Re: Question For Previous Cruisers

I have only been on 2 Carnival cruises but have 2 planned before the end of this year and I LOVE the ships! We have been on the Glory and Liberty and will sail on the Pride and Miracle next.

I am also on other boards and I posted about some negative comments that RCI employees had when I called for catalogs first and then a few months later I got the same negative towards Carnival response when I called them to get 3rd person pricing for an upcoming cruise. The last comment coupled with the first one made me call their customer service number and all I was told is that they are not supposed to say anything negative about another line! In my opinion, that was enough to make up my mind to sail on Princess rather than RCI. They are 2 lines going to Aruba that I thought our 28 year old daughter would be comfortable on since we are taking her with us next year while her hubby is in Iraq for the second time.

I have heard that RCI ships are beautiful and I was really looking forward to trying out a few other lines but not anytime in the near future now! What are the chances that I would have not one, but TWO different employees make negative comments regarding Carnival???

I may change my mind in the future but that will be a little while down the road. I tend to hold a grudge for a whileSuper Angry LOL

I do love our Carnival ships tho........

Just look on the boards at the number of times people have sailed Carnival time and time again.

Do you really think anyone would accept  such low standards and go back??  Why would they??? There are a lot of cruise lines to choose from, yet they return to Carnival.

Sounds more like an employee of Royal has written the post.

Ignore it all..... you'll love the soap cruise!!!

I believe what you are saying, I really do but this is what she said over there:

     From:

     Tracy (Firelillee)

There are a lot of people who do love Carnival, but my friend says I was spoiled by going on Royal Caribbean first.  Here is the best way I can put it......now I'm a normal typical american who makes a healthy salary, has a nice house and drives a nice car.  I'm not uppity or snobby, but I am a cleaning fanatic.  When I walked onto the Royal Caribbean ship, I felt like I had walked into a Beverly Hills, when I walked onto the Carnival Ship, I felt like I was in the dumps.  The food on Carnival is horrible and they only have a small limited buffet.  Carnival probably does offer better prices, maybe better itineraries, but the savings isn't worth it.  RC has a humongous buffet, tons of choices and so if you don't like what is being served in the main dining room, you won't starve.  Carnival served food I've never heard of or would dare eat.  If your an exotic eater, you might like it.  I like country home cooking.  Carnival did have better slot machines, but not as many as RC.  Carnival's bingo was much more expensive than RC.  RC's shows are much better.  The service is much better on RC.  We tipped everyone over and above what they should have received on RC simply because they treat you as a queen.  Carnival allowed room service trays with food leftovers to sit outside the cabin doors on the floor (where you place them when you're finished) for two freaking days.  Our hallway had so many flies it was sickening.  Carnival allowed the kids to run through the ship areas at even 3am screaming.  The guests on Carnival were extremely rude and obnoxious, but on RC they were friendly.

Carnival does not invest in uptaking of the ships.  When an RC ship gets into port and docks, the workmen run off the ship and gets out mops and scrubbers and clean the ship.  I never saw anyone from Carnival do that.  The Carnival ship had holes in the walls, wall paper torn up, writing on the walls, it was terrible.  Never saw that on the RC ship.

I don't believe this at all.
