    Refurbishment?

I was planning to go on Elation in June 09.  Today they pulled all the cruises from February on.  Now I have to find another.[:'(]

There was a post I saw ( Ican't remember where) that said they are changing elations schedule, they will now be doing a Thursday 3 day sailing to Ensenada and Monday 4 day to Catalina and Ensenada.

    Re: Refurbishment?

Maybe it was my error yesterday but Elation was just not sailing.  Today it is listed as you said with the Catalina/Ensenada routes out of SD which is a copy of the Paradise route.  I don't know why they are not going to Cabo.  I wonder if they plan to refurbish Paradise instead and pull it from Long Beach?  Is there enough interest in Catalina/Ensenada to have two ships so close?  I'm so confused.

    Re: Refurbishment?

And it looks like about Feb. 21 they stop the Cabo run and start the other.   Hmmmmmm.  Did something happen to stop the Cabo run?  Too many ships going in there?  New sweet deal with Ensenada port to bring in tourists?  Make more money doing two cruises a week instead of a 5 day?  This calls for a full investigation!!!  Or else I could just get a life............

OK, so after all that, I looked for a press release and it was done Wednesday.  No reason given except that shorter cruises are more popular.

Well, that's kind of a bummer!  I just got back from my Elation 5-day cruise.  I also did the Paradise 3-day last year.  And I much prefer the 5-day, so much so that I'm doing a 7-day next year.  When you don't have the time for a long trip, it's nice having the option of a 3-day or 4-day.  But, honestly, I was disappointed to see there's only one Carnival ship doing a 7-day next summer out of a California port.  I felt like I had to book it right away!

Im very disappointed that the Elation will not go to Cabo! That was a great 4 day cruise. I have done it know 3 times and am going in 23 days again. In Cabo there is so much to do. In Ensanda there is nothing to do. It is hard to imagine that there is that much demand to send two ships to Catalina and Ensanda, other then it takes very little fuel to go to those two places. Look at a map and you will see that you are not going very far. In fact on the day at sea you are at a dead stop because you are so close to San Diego and LA. I like the days at sea when you are cruising and the wind is in your hair. Carnival I love you, but please take the Elation to Cabo at least a couple times a month to give us West Cost people some more options on the shorter cruises!

    Re: Refurbishment?

I agree with that!  This past summer was our first time to Cabo on a 5 day cruise aboard the Elation.  I guess we won't be doing that anymore unless Carnival changes.  Next year, we're doing the 7-day, Mexican Riviera.

    Re: Refurbishment?

FYI. I noticed that you said carnival only had the one 7 day out in the west.  The Spirit has a great 8 day cruise that goes further south in mexico. It is a great cruise!  If you plan on a date that leaves on a Saterday it gets back on Sunday and you still only have to take 5 days off for work.  Works out great.

    Re: Refurbishment?

I'm sorry about that, you are absolutely correct.  What I meant to say was only 1 ship to do 7 day cruises out of LA during the summer months. I still have kids in school, so summer is our vacation time.  Thanks for stating that, I'd hate to have others think they didn't have other choices.
