I don't know, but please don't. Thankfully, I haven't had this problem, but I would HATE if I get to my cabin, and it reeks of cigarette smoke. It's funny, because I'm a smoker, but I can't stand my sheets, clothes, hair, etc. to smell like smoke...

Yes....you are allowed to smoke in your stateroom!!!  I know for a fact that you can so don't pay any attention to the other responses.  And it does not matter if you have a balcony or not.  We have a balcony suite and I smoked in it last year and if you check with Carnival they will tell you that you can smoke in your staterrom.  There are non-smoking areas on the ships.  In fact, there are a lot of them.  Smoking is allowed in staterooms, one side of the lido deck and the casino.  It is not allowed in the dining room or buffet areas.  If I remember right some but not all of the bars are smoking too.  You will find the smoking sections when you are onboard and also the non-smoking areas of the ship.  They have designated areas and if it is non-smoking there should be a sign.   If you are not sure, there should be someone close by to ask that works on the ship.  I smoke and I know where I can and can't smoke.

So, have a great cruise!!  Cool

SuzyQ, I'm sure you can smoke in the cabin. Carnival's not going to punish or penalize you if you do, but as a courtesy to the other guests, you shouldn't. What if the guests booked in the same cabin as you, on the next cruise, have small children with them and they don't want them inhaling this. As I stated in my previous post, I am a smoker, but I also understand that it is very unpleasant for some people and I respect that. It is because of people like you that some guests get off the ships complaining about old, musty cigarrette smells in the cabins and lounges. And it's not just the smell; As I mentioned before: luckily I haven't been in a cabin that smelled of smoke, but I have seen cigarrette burns on the carpets and mattresses. Carnival spends too much money refurbishing these ships for our enjoyment and it's a shame some people don't take care of them.

I know I can smoke in my stateroom.....Wink  In fact, I go to the bar area right away and get the good black plastic ash trays they provide vs. the crappy glass ones in staterooms.  And FYI, I am a responsible smoker too!!

I could be wrong, but I believe even on, at least some of the decks, one side is smoking and one side isn't.

YES! You definitely can smoke in your room. You can also smoke in the casino and bars and it's usually the port (left) side of the ship that is smoking and the starboard side that is non-smoking.  Enjoy yourself on your cruise!
