Not a whole lot to see from shore at Nachi. I swam all the way out to the ropes, probably about 150-200 yds. I just had swim goggles and there are some fish occassionally when you come across rocks but nothing like going out to the reefs. My thought is, I'm already paying to be at the beach, why pay aditional to leave the beach? Guess I too will be drinking all day.

FYI there is a pier there that I know will have some fish around and under it, but I'm pretty sure they would discourage swimming under it.

I also did the beach snorkeling while we were there and I wasn't very impressed - really didn't see much.  The beach is sandy and the fish usually tend to go where the reefs are (lots of hidey holes there) so you'd probably need to be taken out there to really see much (about 200 yards out if I remember correctly - too far for ME to swim!).

You don't want to snorkle off any sandy beach in Cozumel if your intention is to see the sea life. All that sand gets churned up and blows out the visibility. The fish don't like hanging out above the sand because there is nowhere to hide from predators - and there are plenty in the area. They want reefs, which are about 1/4 mile off shore at that part of the island. If you want the see pretty fish in clear water, take the snorkeling trip with 1,250 other cruisers . Crowded but worth it!

We've booked a day at Nachi Cocom for August 7. We're doing a 1 tank dive in the morning and drinking the rest of the day.

Oh, and watch your teens. There is a swim up bar there as well as a walk up, and the bartenders will serve anyone. So if you have a sneaky teen it is very easy for them to get drinks. My DD was served by them, although the drink was for me, if she were so inclined she could have drank all day. I did keep sipping her pina colada to make sure it was a vir gin drink. Just a little FYI.

Maybe thats why her and her friend are so excited about going back.......HMMMMMMMMMM?

I am interested in going to Nachi Cocom but will not be getting to port in Cozumel till 1pm. Will that be enough time to enjoy all the activities at that beach? I understand that they close at 5pm

Where did you rent the jeep??  Online or when you gotr there?  ALso how many will fit in a jeep 4 or 5?

You didn't quote anyone so it's hard to know who you were asking. I rented a Jeep in Cozumel by reserving it in advance through Avis. You can probably find one as soon as you walk off the ship, but if you do that watch out for someone trying to get you to go to a timeshare pitch. Hint: If they are offereing the Jeep for less than $40 it's definitely a scam, and at $40 with taxes and insurance included it might be a scam.

A Jeep seats 4 people ONLY, and those in the back seats need to have really tiny legs unless the front-seat passenger and driver are shorter than 5'2". I drive one every day and am not that short.

If you rent a Jeep do not leave any valuables in it. It will probably come without any windows, or if it has they they will be easily-cut flexible plastic that is held in place with zippers. The locks on the glove compartment and center console, if not already busted out, will be when you get back to the Jeep.

We were at Nach-Cocom on July 8th and we also did not get in until 1pm. We had a fabulous time, we drank, ate, went swimming, had massages, drank, ate, swam some more....plenty of time. It was great.

Just returned from Conquest 7day out of Galveston, 25 Oct-1 Nov..2009.

I went to Nachi Cocom on Friday,  30 Oct..2009

The folks that I was joining had left ahead of me, so I took a cab alone. (with Angel)

The cost is $15.00 each way, up to 4 people.

For fun, I tried to haggle with the driver.  Asked him to take $13.00, he said no, 15 was best price, he then agreed to $14.00!  When he dropped me off I paid him 14 and a dollar tip! ;-)

Not sure the driving time to get there, I'm not good at paying attention to that kind of thing.  Maybe 10 or 15 mins.???

The weather was great that day!

Went swimming in the ocean, and their sparkling clean pool.

Their alcoholic drinks were VERY STRONG.  Be careful!  Not like ship drinks.

Maybe this will benifit someone currently wondering!

I just booked a day on Nachi Cocom beach for eight of us, we leave for our cruise this Saturday. We are very excited about the cruise, and definitely our trip to Nachi Cocom. The reviews on here were impeccable, that really drew us to this resort.

Have fun, drink too many margueritas, get a cheap massage, eat some ribs (and some MORE ribs) and tell Emanuel we said "Hi!!".  Oh, and buy one of the pix of your group in the Mexican hats - they're priceless!!

It looks as though Hurricane Ida is going to change our entire cruise. The Hurricane/Tropical Storm will be directly over Cozumel on Monday and Tuesday. Looks as those our beach excursion may be cancelled.

 I've heard we might be redirected elsewhere though.

 Does anyone know where we would be redirected too if we don't make it to Cozumel or Grand Cayman?

Looks like you don't have to book this in advance but also seems the excursions are cheaper if you book them in advance. Just not 100% sure on Nachi (about 99.8) but from all the reviews it sounds like the place to go.  We have been to Coz about 6 times (seems like more) but for some reason never tried it.  Maybe this time is the time.

I remember reading something before about a 4 course meal - one item from each - but now I'm reading ALL the food and drink you want - so has this changed or was the waiter just being generous hoping for a bigger tip
