    A little disappointed.....

I just came home from my FIRST cruise and i was a little disappoionted in the cleaniness of the ship, not what I expected at all. Our first day on the ship every section of the ship had an odor even my 4 yr old was asking me what the smell was and where was it coming from.

I can say that the service was great (better than most hotel service) and for it to be my first time I enjoyed the experience enough to try it again (just not the SENSATION). my son enjoyed the experience as well and is looking forward to his next cruise!! Big Smile

    Re: A little disappointed.....

My very first cruise was on the Sensation March of last year, and I was extremely impressed with the cleanliness of the ship. I do not remember smelling anything other the occasional whiff of diesel fuel, and I would most certainly cruise on her again. As a matter of fact, that cruise turned me into a cruise addict, and I will have gone on 5 Carnival Cruises in less than 2 years.

My PVP is the best, and gets me great deals on beautiful ships,

    Sorry you were disappointed

I am just curious.....I see a lot of posts where people think the ship (all of them, not just the Sensation) is dirty and the complaints about the cleanliness of the ships.  However, no one ever specifies just what it is that is dirty or unclean.  I have been on several cruises (not just carnival) and I have yet to see what I consider "unclean".  I have seen normal wear and tear, but nothing that constitutes uncleanliness.  What are you people expecting when you say it is unclean??   I sweep my floors everyday at home and vacuum once or twice a week as well as dust, etc.  Does that mean my home is unclean??  I am just curious as to what people really mean when it is unclean..

lainy.....  I want the name of your PVP, (but only if your willing to share).    Like you, my first cruise was on the Sensation, August of 2007.... the only problem I had was that it was over way too fast.  Now I'm hooked and want to check into a back to back cruise.  Thanks for sharing!

In my experience, the Captain or other high ranking ship officers set the tone of the ship. I was on the Triumph and considered it to be dirty, dust and large pieces of trash on the floors and hallways. I never saw the Captain or anyone else concerned with the state of the ship.

I was on one of the last sailings of the Tropicale, and the Captain was constantly checking the cleanliness of the ship. It was very clean and maintained.

Uncleanliness is in the eye of the beholder, but little things can certainly be noticed by guests. In my case, trash on the floor for several hours at a time along with dust everywhere, did not ruin my cruise but it was certainly noticable.

We went on the sensation and had a great time and all I smelled was the fresh fish from the ocean breeze and took BIG whiffs when I could and said aaaaahhhhhhh. That was not body odor by chance was it? I mean if your 4 year old smelled it and, it seems to have followed you do you think?

Yetta:  I do understand what your speaking of, I just got off Sensation on Sunday.  I did have a wonderful time and I haven't been on a cruise in a long time but the last ship I went on was immaculate.  I'm not expecting that a ship can be kept like that 24-7 but this one could have been taken better care of.   I did bring a small spray for my cabin but as far as our cabin goes that was immaculate.  It was the public places that weren't up to par as they should have been.

Just went on the Sensation for our first cruise and didn't notice any smells. We loved it! If that is the worst ship there is I can't wait to sail on others. The crew works hard to keep everything clean.

There are a couple thousand people on there who are on vacation, having a good time. Things are going to get dirty. As soon as one group gets off, another gets on. Cheers to the crew for keeping it as clean and fresh-smelling as they do.

    Re: A little disappointed.....

We were recently on the Sensation and although it might be a little outdated it certainly was not dirty.  There were people everywhere constantly cleaning inside the boat while sailing and outside while in port.

The only issue was a public restroom that needed some attention.  It was bad enough that I chose to find another restroom altogether but I have no idea if it had just happened before I entered or if it had been like that for a while.

Not bad enough to ruin our trip!

    Re: A little disappointed.....

I am happy to hear that a lot of you said that the sensation didn't seem dirty or even smelled like the one poster said. However, what some might consider clean could be dirty to others vs. versa.  I mean my husband is a clean freak and can't stand any clutter and when he sees things that need putting away and the kids have left things around, it bothers him.  Just like clutter might just feel like clutter to others and others it might make them feel like the place is dirty.  What is dirty I would call food trash all over the place and trash cans not emptied (flies), and tables not wiped down as much as possible.  I am sure the staff works very hard to keep the ship clean as possible for it's passengers.  If it was that bad, I very humbly believe that people in large amounts would not come back for more fun on the Sensation or any other Carnival ship if this were true.
