Newbie with questions re: excursions & kids

     Hi Veteran Cruisers,

My family and I will be cruising for the very first time on the Pride on 8/24.  The kids (4yo and 7yo)  are counting down the days!   We are planning on the following shore excursions: PV-Mismaloya Resort Getaway; Mazatlan Shopping, Beach & Lunch; and the Cabo Dolphins for Kids.  I'd appreciate any help with the following questions:

    1. The weather will be HOT and HUMID.  I'm concerned for the kids.  They really want to spend time "building sand castles" but I was wondering if the heat would be too prohibitive for spending time on the beach???

    2. Are the PV and Mazatlan excursions worth it for kids?   Would it be better/cheaper just to take a taxi to the beach since that's what the kids really want to do?  Do most of the beaches have umbrellas for public use?  How are the public bathrooms near the beaches?  One of the reasons why I'm considering the above excursions is because there's access to the resorts/beaches and all the necessary amenities.

    3. For those who have been in the Mexican Riviera with kids during August, how was it for the kids?

    Thanks!!

DW and I sailed the Pride to The Mexican Riverera in Aug of 07 and it was sorts hot and humid but not as bad as we thought it would be.As far as swimin g with the Dolphins I would recomend doing it in PV not Cabo, Wife and I did the swim in PV with the Dolphins and it was GREAT and alittle cheaper then Cabo. Now the Maz shopping is fun  Lots of jewley shop to get stones from CHEAP, Wife and I bought lots of polished stones and haed our silver smith mount then in rings and pedents for us.The stones where about 1/2 the price you would spend here for them. You and the kids are going to have a GREAT time.

                                      HAPPY CRUISING

You do know you answered a 7 month old post and that the Pride is now doing the Carribean, not the Mexican Riviera??? Correct???

    Confused

We love you Kalyn Padget and Rosie Unsworth (our lovely adopted daughters), Amy Barton, Melanie Therrien, TJ, and Rick! The Fun Crew puts the fun in Carnival Cruising! Thank you Butch for being a fantastic CD!

I've only been off the Holiday for a short time, and I'm already having fits of melancholy. I guess unless we can cruise every two months, I'll probably never be satisfied again.

Our 7 YO and 6 YO grandsons decided that they would prefer a Thanksgiving Cruise to Key West and Cozumel on the Destiny to Thanksgiving in Orlando/Kissimmee this November. We must be teaching them well. Thanks for an excuse for my booking another cruise, guys!

We went on two Norwegian Cruise Line Tramp Steamer Cruises - Thank goodness we were too busy on our honeymoon in 1978 to realize how crummy the cruise actually was - Then they ruined our 2007 Hawaii Cruise that was my retirement gift from my wife - Two chances is enough! - Never again!

Our current future dream cruise is 15 days back-to-back on the Freedom / 8-day Eastern (Fort Lauderdale) and the Valor / 7-day Western (Port of Miami) with a 45 minute private shuttle ride in between the two Fun Ships.

There are companies that sell the vests, hats, neck scarves, and other cool down items. We use them for work when responding to spills or standing around monitoring things. all you do is soak them in ice water or cold water and it keeps your temperature down. I have used them for runs too.
