I am like that after a flight so were do you get the patches?

Patches are by Prescription.  Recommend Bonine, it OTC, chewable and easier to keep down.  The post sailing "land sickness" should abate in 24 hrs or less, if longer seek medical attention.  I once got pulled over by the CHP for weaving driving home from a 5-day patrol. I didn't realize anything was wrong.

Thanks for all the info.....   I wound up going to the Dr. yesterday because the motion sickness was not getting any better. I tried to do a load of laundry and when I bent over to load the machine, I literally fell down.   I was not able to drive, I had to have my mother take me to the Dr..  They prescribed the patch thing.... cant remember the name but starts with an S, the one patch that I have on now cost about $10.00 available by prescription only, should last about 72hours.   Basically what they said was that my inner ear adjusted while I was on the ship and that is why I didnt get sick on board, but when I got off the ship my body could not adjust back to normal.  Who knows??   I do plan on cruising again because we had such a good time, I will just plan on wearing the patch before, during and after the cruise.  Good luck to y'all!

Thanks for the follow-up SuziQ, I almost thought about going to the doctor also.  I am finally normal today, so it took me 20 days to adjust back.  But I was as bad as you sounded to be.  I had difficulty driving, and when I walked I'm sure people thought I was drunk.  I also fell a couple times.  It was really weird, since it was the first time it was this bad, after having been on 5 cruises.

The patches are scopalamine and they are prescription only. I have some but they don't seem to be as effective on the boat as the oral meds.

    Re: Seasick AFTER the cruise?

Hi, I know this is a long time since your post, but I recently went on a 5 day cruise. I've cruised once before and don't remember feeling dizzy for this long after. I don't really feel dizzy, just more of a I'm still on the boat sensation. Today is my 6th day and still feel it. It's very hard for me to concentrate at work and it's more annoying. I can still function, but I just want it to go away. I've been doing some research online and I red that some people have this for years. I'm terrified thinking of worst case scenario. Is this how you were feeling? How long before it went away. Did you do anything to make it go away?

It  has been 20 days since I got off the ship and at first I was really sick and unable to go to work for the first few days.  It has been gradually getting better and now I have a dizzy spell just occasionally especially if I am walking really fast and slow down.  Good to know that I am not the only one.  I got the patches before the cruise just in case but did not take them on the ship as I felt fine.  Never thought about taking them afterward.  Next time I will try this.

    SuziQ:

I asked my daughter if she still felt like she was on the boat and she said no.  Just lucky me I guess??  We got back yesterday and I have been sick ever since we got back.  It is like I am seasick, when I rollover, stand up, sit down..... whatever.  It  is actually pretty tough right now typing this and looking at the screen.   Anyone else out there have this sensation?

I had no problems while on ship, but right after I got home, it occasionally seemed like my house was rocking back and forth.

No, I hadn't been drinking.  Ick!

I found that if I quickly booked another cruise, the sensation went completely away.  I believe I was experiencing what they call "sudden cruise withdrawal".

I just got off the Conquest on last Sunday, I had to go to the dr cause Ifeel like Ive drank a couple of drinks.. like walking on a cloud.. still have to hold myself to the rail when going down the stairs. Last cruise I blamed it on the patch, but this cruise I didnt get the patch. The Dr said it was vertigo and put me on Diazepan 4 times a day and said this would last for about 10 days. On the cruise I was ok, except the last 2 days that we faced a cold front and the sea was choppy and we were holding ourselves for dear life..

I just hope this pass quickly, is a horrible feeling!

I never got sick while on the ship.Thats is why I was so surprised how bad I felt when I got home.I asked my son, who had cruised before. WHY didn't he warn me?I felt like i was moving still and in the shower shaving, forget it girls.I was alittle scared to drive just because I knew I could get pulled over for DD without a drink in me.All being said, still soooooo worth it and about to go on my third cruise.Just know,"you HAVE been warned!!!!"

I get motion sickness pretty easily, but I take bonine a few hours before getting on the ship, continue taking it every 12 hours, and keep taking it for a day or two after the cruise and that seems to work for me!

    Re: Seasick AFTER the cruise?

I have taken several cruisies and never come back the same way. Sometimes it takes 2 days sometimes it takes 2 weeks.

I would say if you cont to have problems see a doctor (after 2 wks).

Going out again in 27 days I am sure I will deal with this for at least 1 week after. The price one pays to CRUISECool
