Roll call 10/26/08 Sensation from Pt. Canaveral

We're so excited!  This is our first cruise and first "big" family vacation.  In addition to the cruise, we're going to do two days after the cruise at the Nickelodeon Hotel in Orlando and Universal Studios & Islands of Adventure.  Family consists of self, DH and 2 DS (ages 12 & 2.5)  Anyone one else out there heading on this cruise?

Oh, as a tip, don't book the super expensive Atlantis water adventure that gives you access to their beaches, pools, waterpark, etc which costs $105 for adults and $75 for children when you book it with the Atlantis staff (I think it may be even more if you book it thru Carnival).  Instead, from a tip from the forum, we booked a room at the Comfort Suites for $135 (used motorclub discount) and this gives you full access for everyone staying in your room to all the goodies at the Atlantis except for the dolphin adventures and dining (those of course are still separate costs)!  You can't beat that.  And because the deal sounded too good to be true, I called the Atlantis directly, Comfort Suites directly and my sister who is a 15-year veteran TA and they all confirmed the Atlantis access with the purchase of a Comfort Suites room (which by the way is across the street from Atlantis.)

What are you doing the day of the 27th?  We are taking the Viva Wyndham Excursion...  I did this in May and I loved it..  All you can drink...   My Favorite part....  I am so excited to be celebrating my birthday in the Bahamas, I can hardly wait....

We're kind of unsure for our plans for Freeport on the 27th.  From my research, I found there's not much to do in Freeport.  We were considering trying to find transportation to Nassau on the 27th somehow and get back to the ship before departure for Nassau.  Anyone know how to get from Freeport to Nassau on our own?

It really doesn't seem like there is a lot to do in Freeport....  I'm just staying on the beach....   The only way to get to Nassau would be by boat, and it's like 130 miles, so by the time you got there and back, the ship would probably be leaving....There are plenty of things to do on the cruise ship if you don't want to take part in anything in Freeport.    I thought the jeep excursion looked fun, but I think everyone has to be at least 12.  If you decide on viva wyndham, I'll see you there....

A cheap cab ride to the beach in Freeport is the best idea. They ARE reliable.Whatever time you want to leave the beach and go back,to shop,or to the ship, they will pick you up.While in Nassau,I highly recommend the Yellowbird excursion,IF you are into partying-reggae music, rum punch loaded with 151 rum.... the cost of the Yellowbird is $35 per person.well worth it.They also take you to a private beach for swimming and snorkeling.Paradise

Ok.. got my plans in order. Staying at the Quality in on October 25th. They provide a shuttle to the port for 35 ROUND TRIP. That's an easy 70 for me and my friend. I am getting nervous because I havent decided on what to do for my birthday on the 27th while in Freeport. Been there about 3 times already so I know the choices are limited. I will probably souvenir shop with my friend and come back and enjoy the boat and DRINKS!!!!!!

Karla with a K - I purchased a Happy Birthday button for me and I have one for you. We need to devise a plan to meet so I can give it to you.

    I AM SOOO EXCITED!!!!!
