WOW, I finally see a 9/11 roll call shout out! Yes, there will be 7 of us wild ladies from Houston going on this trip - a first time cruise for some of us. After reading some of these post, I just pray we dont have to divert to Progresso!

    Re: anyone going (9-11-08)

Hopefully all goes well and we'll be there with the rest of you Thursday - out running "IKE"!  Lightning This will be our first cruise. The one dilemma I have is deciding on how to get to the pier. We reside in N. Houston and with the possibility of storm surge etc...driving there and parking our car might not leave a 'stressless' feeling after we leave. The cost of a shuttle seems a bit much- however... a lot less then a deductable. Other option- rent the cheapest car possible and take it. Any elevated secure parking in Galveston?

First time cruise for me too and I have the same dilemma as you. I am thinking about parking my car in the Hobby airport garage for protection and either my mother-n-law will take us from there or I can get a taxi from Hobby to Galveston cruise terminal for about 30.00  I know paying for the parking at Hobby isnt going to be cheap but at least I will have a peace of mind. I dont know of any other places that offer elevated parking without getting towed away. If you need any of the taxi service phone numbers that service galveston, please let me know and I will be happy to provide them to you. Do you have any other ideas to share?

    Re: anyone going (9-11-08)

Well our group is traveling down in 2 cars, 1 which will be parked at where ever you park if you are taking a cruise(not my ride), and my ride will be going back to Houston. Just so I know for the group...where you normally park if you will be cruising..does that normally see the storm surge when a hurricane comes through??? Just trying to think ahead.... Thanks in advance...

Per a Carnival rep, the ship is still scheduled to leave tomorrow, however, please continue to check the Carnival weather update site for any intinerary changes through out today and tomorrow morning. They said the ship can leave out of Galveston tomorrow and sail along the LA cost line on down to Cozumel.

    I hope it's still a go - I just hired a limousine!

Can you limo driver stop by Hobby Airport and pick up 5 hotties from Houston? haha, just kidding. I am parking in the Hobby garage and we are getting a taxi/van so our cars will not be in Galveston, what a pain in the B-hind!
