My husband and I are travelling in August with a large group on the Conquest.  I know that there are ship charges for using cell phones when making a call but I was wondering if there is a charge for using text messaging and what that would cost.  We would like to be able to keep in touch.

I used my cell on my recent cruise and you should check with your cell phone carrier.  I didn't get charged for text messages but did get charged for the time I used the phone but not by the ship.  So check with your carrier.

CruisinMan is correct, there is no charge by the cruiseline for using your cellphone. All cahrges are by your carrier.

Each carrier is different - my carrier Sprint charges $1.49 a minute, and text messages through a "raoming" network are 10 cents each.
