    Bahamas anyone?

On my last cruise we went to Nassau and Freeport and I wasn't impressed by either port.  This cruise we are going back to Nassau (only because the itenerary fit our time frame) and I frustrated about it because I didn't care for it the first time.  I'm sure that the Bahamas isn't that bad, I just have a bad taste from my experience.  I was hoping you guys could give your experience in the bahamas, what did you think? Things you would recommend doing etc?  We have the dolphin excursion scheduled now.  That will take up most of the day.  Thank you

Hate to say it....but I too do not care for the Bahamas.  Been there twice and didn't like it any better the second time then I did the first time.  I much rather go to Cozumel 20 times....LOL   Just enjoy!

    Hello Mrs. Buck,

I just got back from Nassau and enjoyed my day there.

We decided to pay $35.00/per person for a tour of the island.  The tour took us to the Atlantis Hotel and we spent almost an hour in the Atlantis.  I love sightseeing, so I really enjoyed myself.  The tour took us to a shopping area and more sightseeing.  After we got back to the port we decided to enter to the Hilton Hotel (next to the Senor Frog) and for a fee of $10 we were able to enter their private beach - it is walking distance from the port.   The beach is crystal clear, quite, private, and beautiful.  At night, some of my friends decided to go into "Senor Frog" to dance, party, and drink", they got back at 4:30 am, but I stayed inside the ship enjoying the nightlife on the ship.

    Enjoy your trip!!

    Cynthia

The Blue Lagoon (NOT Atlantis) Dolphin Encounter is Good - you get a short boat ride do the Dolphin thing, then a short return boat ride and pretty much away from the crowds; I believe this is normally a morning activity.  Or a relaxing day at the beach at one of the "full service" hotels, even the BCH where you can get food, drinks, umbrellas & loungers and watch the harbor activity (altho harbor work/dredging  is apparently scheduled between now and XMAS); the BCH is a short walk from the ship, so no hurry getting off.   ken

If you want to relax away from 'the madding crowd', get a day pass to one of the all-inclusive resorts on Nassau or Paradise Island. You get everything but a room (food, drinks, private facility, etc) and get to relax and enjoy yourself instead.
Have fun on your next cruise!

We're doing the Blue Lagoon Dolphin ENCOUNTER as it seems better recommended than the Freeport one or the Atlantis one and it includes a 30 minute or so "ferry" ride. When we return, we're either lunching on the ship or in a "local" place in town, then doing Frommer's guided walking tour, then back to the ship for dinner and relaxing on board that evening to include some time at the Piano Bar.

Re: Bahamas anyone? Hilton Beach at Port

Sounds great. I don't remember seeing the Hilton when I was there last year. But this sounds great. Thanks, Cynthia.
