You know, I've lived in Florida since I was two years old and I had no idea where Davenport was until a week ago. I was riding on Amtrak's Silver Star train which passes through there. I remember thinking it had a cute downtown area. I'll be boarding the Silver Star again, incidentally, to get to Miami for the cruise.
I was pleased to learn Amtrak offers a very affordable option for intrastate travel if you're trying to get to the ports in Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, or Tampa. Travel time is about the same as driving, but it is a much more relaxing experience and when you factor in the price of gas and parking, it works out to be cheaper to go by rail!
Anyone else going by train to Miami?
