Tampa? We actually live in Davenport. not too far we sailed on the Enchantment last December. A volunteer humanitarian -stlye excursion does sound like it would be   great   As far as this and the recovery efforts were not sure..

I'll be coming from Tampa too.  Actually we are making a stop in Orlando for the weekend and then driving down Monday morning.

Last I heard (last week) my booking agent with Carnival says that Grand Turk is scheduled to reopen on the 20th.  I have not booked anything just in case.

You know, I've lived in Florida since I was two years old and I had no idea where Davenport was until a week ago.  I was riding on Amtrak's Silver Star train which passes through there.  I remember thinking it had a cute downtown area.  I'll be boarding the Silver Star again, incidentally, to get to Miami for the cruise.

I was pleased to learn Amtrak offers a very affordable option for intrastate travel if you're trying to get to the ports in Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, or Tampa.  Travel time is about the same as driving, but it is a much more relaxing experience and when you factor in the price of gas and parking, it works out to be cheaper to go by rail!

Anyone else going by train to Miami?

My husband and I will be on this cruise.  We are cruising without the kids (3 yrs old and 1yr old).  Much needed break.  Married 18 years so I am sure we should win any "not so honeymoon" game.  All the negative postings about Destiny are a little scary though.  Haven't booked any excursions, yet, but husband and I are big adventurers and game for almost anything.  Not great swimmers, so I hope there are still a lot of fun water things we can do. I am very disappointed that Hartley's Undersea Walk in Nassau is closed.  Does anyone know if there is anything else like that in Nassau? Sounds like a great alternative to diving or snorkling.

18 years thats awsome! The reviews are getting better, everything will be fine im sure. . IM sure they may have a type of life jacket you could wear at Halfmoon cay if you want to try  snorkeling any way. While in Nassau we are going to Atlantis to chek out the resort and its aquariums. This is my third trip to Nassau and Ive never been there, unlike my travel companion whos been there tons of times.  I cant wait!!!
