Just booked this cruise a couple of weeks ago.  First TA for us too, excited even though it's quite a ways off.  Researching the ports, trying to educate myself on the ports and what I want to see.

There is a roll call / sign in thread on cruise critic for this sailing - you have to register to view or post - but lots of participation.  Come on down!

I saw your post over on Cruise Critic - maybe more people will join this thread as it gets closer to the date.   From the looks of the Carnival roll call you'd think we have the whole ship to ourselves!

I hope more people show up, a boat that big all to our self would seem kind of strange.  More people will make it a bit more fun. Smile

It would be strange to have an empty ship, but not to worry.  When you see the masses waiting to embark at the port - you might wish it was just the little cozy group on our thread!  Wink

Been away.  Hubby was ill but has recovered now.

I haven't checked the other site yet.  Counting down...almost to the six month mark.  We are so excited about his cruise.  We have never been on one for this long.  Just read the ship will be dry docked in October.  Should be in great shape.  LOts of positive posts.

I think there will probably be lots of us and the more the merrier Big Smile

I haven't found excursions yet for the ports.  I wonder if we are on our own for this cruise??? anyone found anything exciting?

Glad your husband is doing better.  Check out the cruise critic roll call, there is a little more activity there than here & lots of discussion on shore excursions.  Some very helpful people who have been to these ports before & can offer helpful advice.

I even started a roll call in the liberty section, but so far no other posters!

There are shore excursions listed for this cruise, but so far I can only get the exact prices for the Ponta Delgada excursions.  I pretty much know which ones I want to go on, still not completely decided though on what to do when we stop at Le Havre - would dearly love to see Paris but I think it would be hard to have so little time once we get there.

We've never been on a cruise this long either, and are really looking forward to it.  Got our passports and I'm already starting to think about packing lists, etc.  6 months to go, time is not going fast enough!

Re: Transatlantic Liberty, April 25 2009

I'm sure by now you've received the bad news too.  I just can't believe it.  Anyway I am told we will be receiving emails from Princess and Holland America, to see if they might give us some "special consideration" considering Carnival cancelled this cruise.  Apparently we would not be eligible for any sort of price break on the "Dream" cruises coming up next year, because the ship is new.  I hope we all can re-book on a similar cruise, for a similar cost - it really is only fair considering Carnival opted out and this was their decision - not ours.  In my book, a $50 per cabin credit is not anywhere near adequate for the inconvenience, disappointment and disruption caused by their decision to pull the plug on this cruise.
