The Truimph 5/24/08 and future travelers

Hi Was any on the Truimph 5/24/08? Did you feel how far the boat tilted the first night? When we hit the 60 mh winds . We were at dinner our table was at the rear of the boat we saw the deck chair blow over board. This was our third cruise and the worst. This boat must have something wrong with the stabilizers we rocked the entire week. Make sure you have your sea sick patch if you are going on this boat. This boat had allot of problems. If you are going for great food you will be disappointed. The lines for the food at the buffet were to long. You had to wait 15-25 minutes to get your food. Then it was cold. The selections were poor with no taste. We ate in the restaurant most nights but the food was lacking. The only night we enjoyed was the lobster and prime rib. It became a joke the 4 out of the 8 nights my dinner came in a bowl. The lamb chops were served over the potatoes in a soup bowl. The chicken I ordered came the same way. So did the Lasagna. I am not sure if most of the plates broke the first night when we hit the swells or not but it was just wrong.

The rooms we had were great (lido deck balcony and inside cabins) The toilets would not flush all the times. But they did come out and fix them.

I know I would never travel on this ship again. I was disappointed with this ship I would go back to the smaller ships.

Oh my this is exactly what I'm afraid was going to happen. I sure hope they will have gotten the ship in better working order when I sail on November 2008.

my3boys4 I'd like to respond to countermom's critique of the Triumph.  I wasn't on board and I don't question that those things happened. But I'm amazed how 10 people can review the same cruise, and you'll get everything from a 1 to 10 star rating.

My wife and I have been on 15 cruises and we're currently booked on the Triumph for the third time for a 9/7 cruise.

After 15 cruises I have a pretty good feel about the good, bad, and ugly.

First of all, there's not a ship ever built that won't list when hit by a 60 mph squall.  countermom didn't say how high the waves were but when the seas get swells of 5-8 ft you're going to experience some rocking even when the stabilizers work.  There's anti-seasick patches you can put on before you board and ther's meds in the infirmary and in most bars.

As far as the food is concerned, yes the lines can get long but if you're smart it's not a problem.  All you have to do is avoid the peak times--same thing when you go to a restaurant at home.  If you go at peak times you're going to be put on the waiting list no matter where you're at.

Maybe there was some damage to the plate inventory--but in the long run who cares what kind of dish your food is served on some people just love to complain.

My wife and I have found the food to be very good and we've eaten in gourment restaurants around the world.  Now if you want to get 6-star food you can get it at twice the price you paid for the Triumph.  And here's a tip. If want ot eat during the peak times, go to the main dinning room for breakfast or lunch.  You'll be seated immediatly and the menu is more extensive than the buffet.

I think your fears are unfounded.  Post if you have any questions.

I also intend to write an extensive review when I get back that you'll be able to read.

    till then,

    Happy cruising my3boys4

    Thanks Herb,

My husband and I have decided we are going to make the best of it and enjoy ourselves. You are absolutely correct about the peak times. I can't wait to read your review upon your return. I will be looking for it. I know I don't sail for another 4 months, but I'm getting excited already.

you are so correct about boats at sea. my husband and I are sailing on Triumph Oct 12th. We have cruised before on Carnival. August 2003 on the Conquest, and November 2004 on the Glory where we ran into a tropical depression with 12ft swells. The ship was really rocking for a couple of days and you really had to hold on to the rails  when walking. I used a patch for sea sickness and not once was I sick.

As for the food lines, don't go at peak times. We never had to stand in line for more than a few minutes and the food on both shipss was excellant.

    Looking forward to the Triumph
