    Roatan Snorkeling

We will be leaving in the next few days for our cruise through Western Caribbean and from what we thought - we ahd evreything planned and confirmed.  Today I received an email from our snorkel charter letting us know they have overbooked and we will no longer be able to do this excursion.  Needless to say I'm not hte happiest camper but i do need help for anyone who has been to Roatan.  Because we leave in 2 days we cannot get online at Carnival to book - does anyone know of any other snorkel excursions locally on the island??

    Thanks

    Hi shamrock,

I don't know of an actual snorkeling excursion for Roatan, but I was on Roatan last October on my Legend Cruise and if you go to Tabayana Beach you can snorkel the reef right from the beach and it's gorgeous!!!! We just caught a taxi over to the beach ourselves and it was fabulous. One of the best places I've ever been. The reef is beautiful with bright blue and yellow fish, it's like looking in an aquarium only better!! We rented a sea kayak and paddled out to the reef (it's a very short paddle) and snorkeled off the kayak. Enjoy your cruise!

    Happy Sailing!!

    Shamrock,

Did you ever end up finding a snorkeling excursion on Roatan?  My finance' and I leave on our cruise in 9 days and were wanting to snorkel there as well.

We did! we ended up doing the Jolly Roger cruise.  We signed up through Carnival.  The snorkeling part was okay - wasn't as colorful as others have seen - but they did let us snorkel for quite a long time.  We also had a tour of the backside of the island on the way to the national park where we stopped....we were able to play with monkeys, etc..so that part was really neat.  Overall it was good.  Enjoy your cruise!

You really must go to Tabyana beach if you are interested in snorkeling! It was like 38.00 per person and it was the best ever. You just walk right from the beach into the water and swim maybe 30 feet out and bam it is just lots of coral and beautiful fishies everywhere. I cannot describe it. There were fish all around me it was the coolest thing I have ever done or seen!!!! I think about being there everyday. I have snorkeled in 3 other places and it really was the best.
