    Shade

Are there shady areas where I can sit and watch the ocean and/or shoreline?  I was looking forward to hanging out poolside.  However, I am on a medication that limits my sun and heat exposure.  I hope I can find the perfect shady spot to spend lazy hours!

    Re: Shade

You did not give a ship name, but finding shade on most ships will be easy. There are plenty of areas you can sit by the windows in the AC and watch the ocean! What is your itinerary? Most beaches will have umbrellas available.

    Re: Shade

I have to sit in the shade because I burn so easy. I had no trouble finding shade spots outdoors so I could feel the breeze and smell the sea.

    Keep on cruising!!!

Never been to either of those ports, but I am sure you will find shade. You can always carry an umbrella with you if you are worried; that would offer some protection.

    Re: Shade

I also take medications which limit my sun exposure, and I have never had trouble finding shade spots to enjoy.  I suggest getting to the beaches early, so that you can get clam shells to shade yourself, and you can move around the decks of the ship to find the spot that suits you the best.

    Hugs

That's great to know.  Sitting outdoors where I can see, smell, and feel the ocean is just what I was looking forward to!

    Re: Shade

    Hi StampinPenquin,

There is plenty of cover next to the pool area. Make sure you check because on some ships the windows open and let in air if it's hot and stuffy under the overhang.. You can also sit on some of the side decks during the day because the lifeboats block the sun and make nice shade. I would walk around the ship when the sun is not so hot and scout out the shady spots for later in the week. Gooduck

    Re: Shade

On the Elation you will have shade in the following areas of the ship: Indoors, at the Lido Deck Buffett. Even when it's closed, people enjoy the AC and great views. For those that like the outdoors - around the pool there is shade, but sometimes (especially around meals) it can be difficult to find space.

My secret to to finding shade is under cover around the rear pool. They have lots of shade under cover between the bar and the pool.
