Roatan Snorkeling - Need some insite

We will be taking the Legend in August 2008 and I know the Mesoamerica Barrier Reef is located there, which is second to the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. I would love to snorkel that area. In looking at the tours Carnival offers they do not mention this area.  On calling Carnival I have not been able to get help there.  I am looking for anyone that has been on one of the snorkeling tours that would suggest which tour to recommend.  I am looking at the Jolly Roger Sailing Catamaran and Gumbalinda Park tour or the Coral Cay snorkel Adventure.  Has anyone gone on the Catamaran Sail and Snorkel aboard the Graziafeilce that Carnival also offers?  Please tell me what you think.  Thanks to all you fellow cruisers.

Hi, I was just on this cruise last week! We did snorkeling in Belize, Goff's Caye, and it was fantastic!   In Honduras, we went to Tabayana beach and you can snorkel off the beach there as well.  Either place was really great.  I haven't been on the tours you mentioned, but I think almost anywhere in this area will be pretty good.

    Howdy,

Did you do the Carnival excursion or an independent tour company.  The independents online run from $45-$120 for a 3 hour excursion.  I'm leery of using someone that no one else has used, but Carnival is charging $70 for the 3 1/2 hour excursion.

Thanks.  We sail on the Valor 5/24/09

I've done the Jolly Roger Catamaran twice and will do so for the third time in 24 more days. I love it!! They are awesome and serve drinks on board and a little rum if you like it in your cokes. The snorkeling is totally beautiful and I wouldn't change it for the world. Last time I went just this past March, I chased a squid, picked up a conch, swam behind a turtle, and saw tons of fishes. Gumbalina park is a bonus with the free roaming monkeys that just love to jump into your arms. There is free flying beautful Macaws, a swinging bridge and lots of gorgeous foliage. It's definitely a must see. I don't know if Roger (the owner) will be on the catamaran if you decide to go, he was on my first time out, but he is amazing to talk to. He use to run a restuarant in Treasure Island, FL.  Gregorio is the most friendliest helpful captain and will make sure you have a great time. :)
