Best time to cruise to Hawaii?

When is the best time to Cruise to Hawaii (or from)?  Weather wise that is.  I would prefer as much smooth sailing at possible.  :-)  I would also like to see Whales, but not if it means rough seas.

We just returned. Whale season is in March. The weather was very nice. Day time is hot in the sun, if you are in the shade it is very comfortable. It can be windy, and when the sun sets, you will need a jacket. The sail over- the first two days were a little rough and then smooth. However, the waves could kick up at any time. I have heard the nicest times in Hawaii are June/July.

Thanks for the info Buckeye.  I am beginning to think June and July are the best times just about everywhere.  :-)   I have been to Hawaii, but not by cruise.  I hope my next trip there will be with Carnival.

    Paul,

Just want to make you aware. The passengers on the Hawaii cruise were older.

I had not expected that and was disappointed. We did not even have a "band" on the lido deck for the entire cruise. We were celebrating our 25th anniversary and looked forward to partying and fun. The disco had at most 20 persons in it, execpt for the night the crew used the disco. The ship got very quiet at about 11pm.  I just wanted to make you aware before you plan the cruise. It may be interesting to hear other persons experience. Again, I was disappointed in Carnival on this cruise. Could not find much FUN. Seemed as though they really catered to the "older crowd" and not toeveryone.

we just returned from Hawaii and had a great time, although I agree with the previous poster, it was an older crowd and not a lot of FUN, like in other cruises.  the highlight of the trip was definately the islands, which are undeniably beautiful.   If you go for the islands more than the cruise you will be fine. Have fun.  the weather was great, sea a bit rocky but the Pacific mostly is anyway.

    Hawaii in May...

We just returned from a two week cruise to Hawaii in May - it was just after whale season so we didn't see any, but we did see dolphins playing as we were sailing. From California it took us 4 days to get to Hawaii - it was wonderful and relaxing to have many sea days - we love to cruise so this was an added plus for us - 8 sea days total.

A cruise to Hawaii gives you a good "taste" of Hawaii, we now know where we want to go back to for a land vacation. Also, we sailed RCCL Radiance of the Sea - and like previous poster said, we were an older crowd - upwards of 50. The reason is the cruises are usually about 2 weeks long and cruises to Hawaii are usually in May and September/October - kids are in school - which is another reason why we choose the itineary.

Would I go again - in a heartbeat - as we love sea days!

I agree with Paul.  We just got back from the 12days Hawaii cruise (10/02/06 to 10/14/06).  98% passengers were over 60 years old.  Lido deck was empty after 9pm.  No band was played.

We are booked for Oct 1 2007. Can you tell me what kind of weather you had ? Was it very rocky at sea ? This is our 10th cruise  with Carnival, sailed with others as well. My husband wants to know are you in Honolulu for two days, and is the ship just docked? Last question is was the Ensenada port a problem ? I have read amny bad reviews about Ensenada. Thanks for the answers. Mimi

Is there really a BAD time to cruise to Hawaii?  Paradise

On our first cruise to Hawaii, the crowd was a bit older, but we had a group with us, so we brought our own fun!  We're doing the same on the 9/16/09 Spriti sailing from Vancouver to Honolulu (and stopping at lossa Islands, too) if anyone wants to join our fun group, just give a shout!
