On my last cruise, it was a group of six 21 year olds on a 4 day cruise. The most any of us spent was about $160-$175 on drinks. I get what you're saying, but I think $1000, even for a 7+day cruise is a bit of an exaggeration. And the whole point would be just like the soda cards; if you get them you save some money but alot of people would not bother getting them even if they plan on drinking. And with as much as they charge for drinks already (and as much profit as they make off them) all they'd have to do is set them up so cruisers save like $50-$75 at least and they'd be worth it, without Carnival really losing very much.
Also, on my last cruise I saw several adults denied service at the bars several different times because they were too intoxicated. Most of the people didn't cause too much of a scene about it.
I'd also like to see more lounge chairs/space on the lido deck/pool areas. On days at sea you have to be up there by like 7am if you want chairs anywhere near the pool.
