How much is it through Carnival.  We are a group of ten traveling in April and were debating on getting rooms at the Comfort Inn but with the cost of three rooms we are not sure.  It may be best to get 2 rooms and just use carnival for the other two.  Can anyone tell me the cost through Carnival?

This excursion from carnival costs $85 per person without admission to the waterpark.  I like your idea of renting a room the cost in $230.00 per room.  With 4 of us going that would be a great savings.  But I worry about getting there and getting back to the ship.  The excursion from the ship includes transportaion to Atlantis, chairs, towels and lunch on a reserved section of the beach.  When you rent the room does that include the waterpark.  How far is Atlantis from the ship?  I think we could save about $15 per person but would it be worth the hassle?

When we went to Atlantis in April '08 we went to the waterpark.  Our room was ready when we arrived.  We went to our room to leave our things we brought with us and off for a 5 minute walk to the waterpark.  We loved it!  Something we did not know was that the beach closed at 6 p.m.  We stayed most of the day in the pools and slides and when we decided to head to the beach we only had about 30 minutes to enjoy the beach.  As for lunch, we took pb&j's from room service and chips to eat.  We also carried our sodas (we brought these onboard with us) and water.  We loved having a room because we were able to get a quick shower and change clothes before we headed back to the ship.  We can't wait to go back!!!!

We went in June of this year and rented a room, it included 4 wristbands to the waterpark. We took a taxi over to Comfort suites and checked in and went straight to the park! Loved it!!! The taxi was $4 a person and about a 15 min ride over to Atlantis (traffic) reason for 15 min ride. Hope this helps. Have FUN!!! Smile

Re: Atlantis Paradise Island in Nassau

    Just got home today....

We booked 2 rooms at Comfort Suites (5 A & 3 kids) for $106 per room, HOWEVER... plus tax, PLUS a $40 maid fee per room. Also, the couple we were with had to pay $40 more for the 3rd adult in their group. Still cheaper, but did have these surprises... I asked CS over the phone for the final costs and this was NEVER mentioned. The "manager" was extremely rude because we asked and "she can't help the fact that the Americans making the reservations didn't tell us about the extra charges".  Oh, and of course, after all the dust had settled, our room was not ready until 3pm, which is normal check in time.

$147.01for the room + $4 each way for the shuttle. AND we had a great time!!! You check in and get cards to take to any towel hut at the Atlantis Resort. This includes the water park and beach (we never made it to the beach!). My 5, 7, 9 yr olds and I went down the "Leap of Faith"!! We drug ourselves back to the room, rested and showered and then went shopping on our way back to the ship.

    DEFINITELY WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you have any questions let me know....................

    Greetings from Georgia!!

The only reason you rent a room is to get a better price to go to Atlantis water park. The room costs less than the shore excursion offered by Carnival. The room comes in handy to shower and change clothes. Do not know of anyone that has spent the night in the room.

ohhhhhhh i see now, thanks ladybug.....well i would rent a room if it means for me to get a package together with the waterpark,i guess, it makes sense, because it is high on price through Carnival.last feb when i was looking into booking this one,the excursion was too much, thats one of the reasons why i ended up booking  W carrib instead but, these things are good to know,Thanks!

If the ship gets in Nassau in the morning and you can't check into your rooms until 3pm.  You only get a few hours or so in the waterpark, right?

Re: Atlantis Paradise Island in Nassau

    Hello everyone,

thank you very much for sharing your experience. This gives me a new idea about a day at the Atlantis. I thought, we (hubby and me) take taxi and pay the entrance fee. Now I wonder if this doesn't work?

I found this about the entrance fee:

By purchasing the Discover Atlantis Tour wristband, visitors can explore The Dig and its exhibits as well as the Ruins, Predator and Water’s Edge Lagoons.

    TICKETS
Discover Atlantis Tour wristbands can be purchased at the Temple of the Moon in the Atlantis casino.
    Adults - $35, Children 4-12 years - $25

So, what do you mean? If I don't need the room, but take the taxi (4 $  + 35$ for ticket pp) + the ticket, can I go everywhere in the Atlantis, like beach and pools?

Thank you very much in advance for your information. Wilted Flower

May be I got the point now: The Comfort Inn makes sense if your are 4 people - same price + room? Is it that? Thanks again.

    Hello!

This summer my family and I are cruising on the Destiny and one of our stops is the Atlantis. I have so many questions and your post seemed so inormative and friendly. We have no cruise knowledge, so please excuse anything dumb I might ask..

You booked a room on the island and then you didn't have to pay for the water park, etc through Carnival?

Does the ship stay over night at the different ports?

Can you go back and forth from the ship to the ports?

Did you also stop at Grand Turks and Half Moon Cay?

    Thanks ~

    JM

Re: Atlantis Paradise Island in Nassau

We went to Atlantis on October 21.  This was the first time I had been there and booked it through Carnival.  I think it would be just as easy to have taken a taxi and paid the $35 admission to Atlantis.  The only problem with that is if they are at their limit they may not sell you the ticket, but when we were there it was not crowded at all.  We stopped at Half Moon Cay and it was GREAT!!!!  After that Nassau was a little disappointing.  We could not get in the ocean the waves were to rough and really if I was just going to swim I would just stay on the ship.  The town of Nassau was really exciting, very different that what we are used to.  Don't forget the straw market, it is an experience in its self. If you go to the beach and someone trys to sell you something wait until you get into town, prices will be about half for the same thing.

I'd love to know what you felt was 'really exciting' about the town of Nassau. Personally, I think it's one of the worst places I have been in my life. Dirty, to the point that most people don't dare eat there. The Straw Market is a disaster in itself...if you are at all clostrophobic, don't go. The empty lot next to the Straw Market actually had been used as a town dump and rats were running around in it. I am completely shocked that Carnival keeps Nassau as a port. Unless I am missing something,..having to go to a Paradise Island to take your chance on a good time, is nothing i'm interested in. I would stay onboard the ship before I would ever go to Nassau again. I like Carnival...but would never go there again.

Re: Atlantis Paradise Island in Nassau

Any place I have never been before I can always find something very exciting about.  The street music, the people, the shops and even the way of life we are not aware of.  My glass is always half full not half empty.  The people in the straw market are very friendly and I do have compassion for people.  Would you like to go to work every day like that, making a living in a 4 foot space?   Maybe you should have taken the time to listen to the stories of their every day life and how they manage to make a living there, then the market would have taken on a whole new perspective.  I do however agree the town was somewhat dirty, but look around you, I am sure you can also find those places anywhere you go.  Take a look in any neighborhood of any type houses, there is always that one that everyone wishes was not there.    Eating while off the ship in any port, I would not do, so I have no comment there.  I guess as the saying goes, you can't please all the people all the time.

I really like the positive attitudes.  Where is the straw market?  I know there is one at the pier.  Last time we went our driver took us to a little straw market stand that was near the fort.  Is this the one you are talking about?
