    A Day in Juneau

Not sure why no one has posted to this thread but thought I would tell everyone about our day in Juneau.

Juneau was great.  We got off the ship and made arrangements to go on a whale watching excursion through Orca Enterprises with Capt Larry.  Some of the shops were open but we didn't have mush time to shop before our tour.  We meet in the office which is a short distance from the ship (right across).  The tour took us out for about 2 hours and it was great we saw whales, eagle, sea lions.  A very nice excursion.  The crew provided some snacks and drinks.

We rented a care through Rent A Wreck.  They picked us up at the harbor and took us to the office.  While the cars are not new they are in good shape and worked great for what we had planned.  We took off and headed for the Alaskan Brewing Company.  They give tours.  It was fun.

Then we headed for Mendenhall Glacier.  WOW is all I can say.  We spent some time there checking out the trails.

I tried to post some pictures but they didn't some up - you can go to my webshot albums here - http://community.webshots.com/user/seauonboard

We went back towards the ship and parked at the library. There is a place - I believe isn't called Tracy's - they had king crab legs - it's a little shack.  It was fantastic.  They also have a little shop that sells glacier soap.  I bought some for gifts.

We took a return trip to the Brewery as we wanted to pick up more glasses.  Then off to the local grocery store to pick up supplies and soveneirs (sp) - much cheaper then the shops by the ship.

We returned the car and they drove us back to the pier.  There was no extra charge for them picking us up or dropping us off.

Once back to the ship we took all our goodies on the ship.  We planned to get back off and maybe even enjoy some more crab legs but everyone was wiped out from our day.

    Ask if you have questions.

    Re: A Day in Juneau

Since you mentioned crab legs it reminded me of a question I had about our upcoming Alaskan cruise (12 days, can't wait!!!).  The one thing my mom said she has to have on this vacation is king crab legs.  Did they serve them on the ship, or is that something we will have to find in port?

    Thanks!

    Happy Cruising!!

Sorry to say they don't serve them on the ship so get your fill of them in Juneau.  Not far from the ship - you could throw a stone and hit it.
