    Re: Calica

When we were in Calica in November, we booked a private excursion through Edventuretours.com.mx. We went out for 7 hours. We toured the Tulum Ruins and snorkeled in two different spots, as well as had a very nice dinner (which was extra). Snorkeling equipment and refreshments were supplied. Ed, Bonnie and Charlie were GREAT. Contact them and I can just about guarantee you will not be disappointed.

We were not real thrilled with the port of Calica in general - nothing like Cozumel.  We took the Tulum excursion, which was wonderful, then had a few Corona's at the port and went back on the ship a little early to enjoy some pool time before the crowds.

There are lots of taxis there to take you places, best thing to do is research on where you can go from there or book your excursion through Carnival.

Here is a link to our webalbum from our cruise last year on the Inspiration to Grand Cayman and Calica.  The only pictures in the port are of all us drinking Corona!

     Have Fun!

We took a taxi into Playa del Carmen and hung out at the beach ($5 each I think).  The shopping area is right by the bars at the beach.  For a relaxing day, I would recommend it.

My husband and I went on a charter fishing trip when we were there in January. It was great! Our boat (the only one with females) was the only one to catch fish. I caught the biggest fish. Even if you are not a fishing person, this tour is great. The guys that took us out were great.

We took the Xcaret Park tour, plenty to see and do.

We had planned to spend a couple of hours there, then go to town for awhile ....... we enjoyed the park so much we stayed until the last shuttle..

Not much at Calica!!  Decide what you want to do, shopping, beach, or snorkle.  Several nice thing to go to.

We went with Edventure Tours.  They picked us up and took us to Tulum Ruins, Zipline, Cenotes and we had lunch a enjoyed the beach while the rest of our group went snorking with the Turtles.  Great guides and price!!  Email Bonnie and they will work with you on whatever you want to do.  Alot cheaper than Carnival excursion.  I would recomend them to anybody they were great!!!!

We LOVED the Carnival excursion CALICA BEACH BREAK.  Very nice private beach, funny bus driver, UNLIMITED DRINKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Awesome.  Great snorkeling right off teh beach or hang under the tiki hut.  So much fun!!! Inexpensive too, I thought.  I am scared to take taxis in mexico on my own due to stories I hear about kidnapping.

    Re: Calica

My husband and I cruised last December and we learned that Calica is like a bus terminal.  When your cruise ship docs in Mexico there will be busses waiting to take you to your shore excursions.  There were taxi's there also.  Calica is not a walk around tourism place but it does provide great access to many fun things.  We got on our shore excursion bus and went to the Beach (at Playa Del Carmen) and Shopping (quinta 5th Av.).  Loved the beach it was so beautiful.  The beach had plenty of lounge chairs but it also had a pool and outdoor beds and a sit down resterant.  The shopping was no good except for the fact that in the center of the shopping area was a food court with a Papa Johns pizza and a SubWay.  Many local  food choices all over quinta Av..... if you want a real Mexican Lunch.

Is this the actual name of the excursion that you did?  We want to snorkel and be safe.

    Thanks!

How far to the zip, bike, and splash tour?  Was it at Hidden Worlds?.  Also how much was the taxi?
