SUNSET BEACH RESORT - Montego Bay

If you've done everything that you want to do in Montego Bay or just ooking for a relaxing day then try Sunset Beach Resort (http://www.sunsetbeachjamaica.com/).  They have day passes for cruisers.  They have went up since we were there becaue now they have a waterpark.  I beleive someone told me adults are $40. now (not sure about children) - but well worth every penny.  Taxi is about $3.00 per person from the pier.  You show your S&S card at the desk and they give you a towel voucher (not sure what they do for the water park) and you are on your way.  It is an all-inclusive so the price includes food, drink, watertoys (nothing motorized - they are in a protected area), board games, pool table, ping-pong table, putt-putt golf, basketball and of course the water park.  They also have 2 pools - may have more now with the waterpark.  Fun day.

I got in touch with Sunset Resort and they told me it was $60 pp, and no reservation required.  I think we are going to be headed there.

It might be a last minute decision for us, we are 5 x 60 = 300, not sure yet, if we stay on the boat we can use the pool & eat for free and do more stuff in the Caymen Island and maybe just go to town on MB, but like I said, still thinking.  Im sure the kids will convince me to do it  lolTongue Tied

Re: SUNSET BEACH RESORT - Montego Bay

After our last trip there, the Margaritaville excursion to Nigril, this sounds wonderful! After hours on the bus and a somewhat disappointing beach experience I think this sounds like the perfect way to enjoy a little off ship activity with two kids. The resorts are more protected and keep the peddlers at bay for the most part.Cool We leave June 28th and cant wait to get on our way...

Even though it was undergoing renovation when I was there (2007), I really liked Sunset Beach in Montego Bay (there is a sister resort in Ocho Rios). I took a taxi there, but walked back when I realized how close it was to the ship.

We did Sunset Beach back in October when we cruised the Conquest. I pre-booked our reservations at www.jamaicaforaday.com. I also booked their transport ahead of time too. I didn't want to have to worry about anything.  A van driver was waiting for us in the terminal with a sign, loaded us up and took us straight over. When the day was done, took us back to the terminal. No worries!!!!

Ok we are back! and we had a blast at Sunset Beach.. Te taxi fare from the port is 5 dollars per person, and it takes about 4 minutes to get there. The place is very nice, the beach is kind of rocky and have a bed of seaweed, but if you have aqua shoes, you will have no problem. Peaceful, noone will bother you. The pool was very nice, with the bar in the middle. I know there are more pools for the kids but we didnt went to them cause we dont have kids, and we were more interested in the beach. The banana daiquiri is to die for, made with fresh bananas.. yummy! and free. The food is excellent and they even have variety for those fuzzy people that perfers american food like burgers and pizza, but I honestly suggest you try their typical food.. not too spicy, very tasty.

We scheduled the couple's massage.. a great deal! for 130 dollars we both had the most wonderful, thorough massages anyone can have, 45 mins of glory, I wanted to take both girls home as our personal masseuse (spelling?). It was so good that we gacve them each 10 dollar tip. WELL worth every penny. We left the place at 3:30 pm with enough time to do a bit of shopping on port and head back to the ship. Word of caution.. people in Jamaica, even though they are very nice, they can be PUSHY.. and I mean PUSHY with capital letters.. so do your shopping and head back to your ship as fast as u can.

Also.. the coffee at the port was more expensive than outside, besides, the blue mountain coffee was nothing out of this world, maybe I had super high expectations about it, but me being from Puerto Rico, where the coffee is strong and rich, I found the Blue Mountain coffee to be on the weak side.

Re: SUNSET BEACH RESORT - Montego Bay

Thanks for the feedback Mari!!  Glad you had a great trip!  We're still tossed up between Sunset Beach & Doctors Cave Beach...which is not all inclusive.  Was Sunset Beach very crowded?
