Porting on July 5, 2006

My wife and I are taking the Holiday July 3rd cruise out of Mobile. This is our first cruise and are having trouble deciding what to do for excursions. We are not ones to be herded in a group setting but want to experience the culture.

Does anyone have suggestions for us? We are on a budget but if it is worth the expense we are open. Short trips and eateries are welcome.
