    Xcaret

Our travel agent says that Carnival no longer goes to Calica .We want to go to the theme park called Xcaret which is at that port. Can anyone tell me if this is possible. Our cruise is on the Inspiration April 26,2008

    Re: Xcaret

The cruise you're booked for goes to Grand Cayman and Cozumel.

There are still cruises that go to Calica. At least there are some listed on Carnival's website. Perhaps they'll be stopping this port in the future, and this is why your TA said this? I'm not sure how to view the cruises that go to this port without sorting through all the cruises though.

The cruise you're booked on though looks like a great cruise. Grand Cayman is known for stingrays. So if you want to swim with the stingrays, take an excursion to Stingray City. The turtle farm is also interesting. Cozumel is always great too. I did an offroad jeep excursion several years ago, and highly recommend it. It's quite bumpy though, so watch out.

Good luck and I hope you have fun on your cruise! Is this your first time on Carnival?

No! this will be our third cruise with Carnival.Loved them!!!!! Both were seven day, this one is five days. Yes I saw that Calica  was still listed as a port but the TA assured us that it had been discontinued! We have been to the western caribbean but really wanted to see the park. Don't know where to go on Carnivals site to find out for sure.We are in our 60's and not as spry as we once were.

If your port docks at cozumel you could take a ferry over to playa del carmen and then take a taxi to Xcaret.  The ferry is about a half hour long and the taxi drive is about 20 minutes long.  Xcaret was neat.  It was like a big zoo with a little more to do.  You can swim with the dolphins during certain times.  You can snorkel.  Some caves to explore.  Kind of expensive though

    Hi again;

Out of 407 cruises from Miami there are six, 4day cruises from Miami on the Fascination that goes to Calica & Key West.

    Jan14      Feb11   Feb25   Mar10   Mar24   Apr7

It does appears the Inspiration will no longer call on that port.

Time in Calica is from 1:00 pm to 10:00 pm.  Booking the excursion onboard will provide shuttle to and from Xcaret. "In my opinion this would be the best one for you because of the show offered at the park in the evening, and the ambience of the evening. Even though I think every Carnival fan should cruise the Holiday one time, she is unique and who knows when she will be retired."

"Please consult the Shore Excursion Manager onboard for your ship's shuttle schedule. For late departures, the show starts at 6:00 PM. This excursion is at your leisure. Park closes at 10 PM"

Out of 83 cruises from Ft. Lauderdale, there are none that call on Calica.

Out of 77 cruises from Port Canaveral, there are none that call on Calica.

Out of 176 cruises from Tampa, there are none that call on Calica.

Out of 110 cruises from New Orleans, there are none that call on Calica.

Out of 102 cruises from Mobile, AL, there are 34 5day cruises that call on Calica.

These are the day visits 10 am to 5pm.  The Holiday is the only cruise ship I have been on yet & the only cruise.  It is the smallest, the oldest and absolutely has to be the friendliest . . just wonderful.

NEXT SAIL DATE:  SEPTEMBER 27, 2008 BACK TO COZUMEL AND PROGRESSO

    I hope this help you . . .

Happy New Year to You & Yours   GOD bless.

    Marie
