    Re: Shore excursions

Manzanillo is a working port so there is nothing close by of interest. I suggest the shore excursion going to Las Hadas Resort. This is the resort where the movie "10" with Dudley Moore and Bo Derek was shot. If that is not to your liking you should try going sail fishing. Manzanillo considers itself as the sailfishing capital of the world. My wife and I went on an excursion that was built as shoping and a beach resort. They took us on a bus to the downtown section which was very old and we did not find anything there that we wanted. They then took us on the buses to a flea market in the hills behind Manzanillo that was full of items like silver and turquoise rings hammocks T Shirts and all run by locals from the surronding country side.We had forty-five minutes at each place before being driven to a hillside over looking the Las Hadas Resort and a couple of others where we could take pictures. We all figured that this is where we would be going as the resort part of the trip. Not so! We were taken to a beach bar that was not what everyone had in mind after seeing how beautiful the Las Hadas resort was. Hope this helps and I know that you will enjoy the cruise

    Re: Shore excursions

We took the excursion to the pyramids and saw the volcano.  We went to Colima and had a wonderful authentic lunch, this was an all day tour and worth every penny.  Nothing really in Manzanillo, can't fingure out why it is a port.

If you don't take an excursion, there is no where to go or anything to do.  I wish Carnival would scrap this as a stop.  It cost 8.00 to go to town and back to the ship and I was not comfortable with the local cab drivers.

Maybe that's why it's a port of call. To me that's the best reason to cruise, it's the time spent with the one you love doing things that you don't do at home! We never take excursions with the ship, we always go out on our own, and have found some things we would have never found on a guided tour. It's time to relax and just wander around enjoying life. We will be going on the SPRIT in Oct. 2009 and can't wait to discover new things. We are in the over fifty crowd and love to just walk around and find out what the port is all about! Try it next time, i think you'll like it... HAPPY CRUISING, See you in mexico...

Since these posts are a bit dated...I thought I'd ask for additional information on the excursions offered in Manzanillo.  Has anyone taken the Exploration and Beach tour?  We'll be on the Spirit in early March; is it a comfortable ride or too hot that time of year in the open air vehicle?  Would appreciate any other info on tours you enjoyed at this port.

Get off the ship and ask for a taxi to take you to Playa La Boquita. It's on Santago Bay and it's a great beach with lots to eat drink snorkel swim meet people. Local americans hang out there and local mexicans too. You'll also find Mexican tourists from Guadalajara at Playa La Bouquita. There's a sunken ship right off shore to snorkel at. Tons of colorful fish. Have a good time whatever you do.]
