zip line canopy and cave tubing with DON in Belize

We spent the last week on the Glory and one of our ports was Belize City, Belize. We spent the entire day with DON  of ZIP LINE BELIZE(http://www.ziplinebelize.bravehost.com). He met us at the dock and escorted us everywhere and we were amazed as we bypassed the long, long lines of our fellow ship passengers. The organized cruise excursions only had time for one adventure due to the long lines and time constraints of so many people on big buses....in fact, several times we overheard people grumbling and asking why we were getting to go past them....however, there were 6 of us in our own minivan and following a city tour we first went to the Belize Aerial Trek and ziplined thru the rainforest canopy with great guides, excellent equipment and it was fun, fun, fun! Next, we went around the corner to Jaguar Paw Resort and tubed thru 3 cave systems and saw amazing caverns with bats, stalactites, etc. Again, we had 2 guides (Don was one of our guides) that stayed with just the 6 of us whereas the cruise excursions had 35-40 people and only 2 guides....they couldn't seem to keep up with their people and looked completely disorganized. The cruise excursions had lunch under a shed while we were escorted inside the Jaguar Paw Resort restaurant for a terrific lunch and a tour of the resort including the resident howler monkey who looked in the window while we ate(he dropped down out of a tree about 4 inches from my nose when we walked outside and I wanted to touch him but DON said no....his bite could be ferocious), the butterfly farm, pool, cabanas and just amazing tropical rainforest flora and fauna!!!! Following lunch we went to the Belize Zoo for up close (I mean way, way up close)views of Belizean wildlife including howler and spider monkeys, jaguars, macaws and so much more. Then DON escorted us downtown for shopping at a Belizean grocery store (Cynthia recommended several items) and a souvenir shop. They kept a constant watch on our time so that we wouldn't miss the boat and were so warm and friendly. DON pointed out many things and gave us the history of Belize as we drove thru both Belize City and the countryside. You could never find better tourguides anywhere! Thank you DON for a wonderful time and we hope to see you both again!

Lar, thanks very much for your helpful post. I am a firstimer and will have a group of 27 with me on the western caribbean cruise. We are all interested in the cave tubing and zip line combination. We have contacted Don and booked already. We were also offered a group discount. We are excited and can' wait for the adventure.

    Thanks again

We were on the glory and wanted to do both the cave tubing and the ipline canopy tours, but Carnival does no offer the combination. It is one or the other with carniival. So I did some research and found Donald Ramirez..
I booked the zip line and cave tubing with DONALD of http://www.ziplinebelize.bravehost.com from four months ago. It was the best experience on the cruise. This young man is a real professional in what he does.
When we got off the ship, we went to terminal # 1 as instructed. When we walked through the glass door he was there holding a sign that reads our names. We then headed to the zip line site. There were a lot of large groups there waiting for their turn. DONALD told us that those were the people who book the zip line through the cruise lines. Well, we went straight to it with out having to wait or catch the long line.
After the zip line we had lunch at the jungle resort. We had lunch in the comfortable restaurant, whilst those booked through the cruise lines were having lunch under a shed in an open area.
We then did the caves. It was a thrill. DONALD was very informative about the history of the MAYAS and the cave systems. He is somewhat of a naturalist as well. He did presentations on medicinal plants. After all this we were heading back to the City, and when we were passing the Belize Zoo DONALD told us that he can offer us a tour of the ZOO with no extra cost. Well, We did a tour of the Zoo too. We then continued to the City and did a city tour, took some pics, saw some of their historical sites, and stopped for shopping. We then taken back to the terminal to board our tender about an hour and a half before our last tender left.
If I were crazy ti listen to those shorex, I wouldn't have had such a great time. We got top of the line services from DONALD. We got 4 tour for less than the price of one, and I have to mention that the services were great. We paid only $ 120.00 per/ person ( he also offer group discount ), and it was all worth it. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND DONALD TO ALL CRUISERS. HIS EMAIL: zipbelize@yahoo.com

Lar, thank you very much for the information. I am a first timer, and after reading your post I got in touch with Donald Ramirez and made arrangements for the cave tubing and zip line tour. It was 13 of us in our group and he gave us a group discount and i was offered the tour free of cost being the group leader. The services were great and there is no way I can thank Donald for such great time in Belize.

the cave were very exciting, the zip line was thrilling, and that was the best rice and beans I have ever had. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND DONALD RAMIREZ FOR THE CAVE TUBING AND ZIP LINE TOUR. WHAT IS BEAUTIFUL ABOUT IT IS THAT YOU DON'T HAVE TO WAIT IN LONG LINES.

Re: zip line canopy and cave tubing with DON in Belize

We are going to Belize on Carnival 4/7/07.  I would like to do the ziplining, except that I'm afraid of heights.  Any thoughts on that?  Is it really scary?  I know my husband and son would like to do it, but, I'm not sure about me.

I am sure that Donald will be able to accommodate you. You should get in touch with him. When I was communicating with him he mentioned that all I need to do is to tell him how I want the tour to go and he will carry it out as I requests. You don't get services like this any where. He is very polite and flexible. On the otherhand, it is not scary. You will walk up steps to the first platform. After the first platform you will start to fall in love with the zip line. The guides on the site are all exports, so you will have a thrill.
